It's not about Kim though. Hip hop obviously was what made him famous...Kim did somewhat make him famous though. He rapped about killing her and gave him attention.

I know it's not about kim. and I don't think that him mentioning her on a record made him famous.

I didn't say Kim made him famous. She is ONE of the many things that made him famous. There's Hailie, there's anti-gay lyrics, there's women bashing, there's mother bashing...so many factors made him famous. Kim is one of those factors, yes.

what about good writing skill, a touch of talent, mentored by dre and the fact that he was white? I think those are the reasons why he became famous. those things you mentioned only became apparent after he got famous.

He didn't become famous until My Name Is, which is pretty offensive. Bashing on those things only increased that. He got really famous because he was labeled "the bad guy." Being white probably did have more to do with it than anything, but once again...the things I listed are FACTORS that added to his fame. The exposure of Kim and his mother were huge in his music, no denying that.

I personally LOVE 25 To Life, even the beat. I could see why people would hate the beat though, when I first heard it, I was like "What??" but, I enjoy it. :y:

Personally I like the song, but not too much. I don't really want to hear an emotional Eminem in this day and age. I want to hear his old shit, I want to hear his spin/opinion on today's generation of kids and what's going on in the world. Some emotional stuff is ok, but it's generally been what drove his last few albums.

Don't get me wrong, I love his emotional songs, but I want to hear MMLP type shit. I think we'll be getting it on his next solo album too.

Cuz the consept is old. Commen already used it in "I used to love H.E.R".
And the beat sucks. Too mainstream
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

This song is brilliant. The song obviously has to be structured by talking about things related to "her" because he refers to hip hop as a girl. So talking about dre would certainly not make any sense for this song. So then we get.... I Need a Doctor. Were you satisfied...probably not.

I don't like the chick's voice but other than that it's a good song. I know it was written in a way to throw you off; you think it's about Kim until the end but personally I think the song started out about her and he changed it midway through. That's what it sounds like to me.

Em dropped clues throughout the song before the bombshell "fuck you hip-hop":

"took my heart and ran it straight into the planet" - First off, that's an odd thing to say. Ran it straight into the ground, sure, but planet implied a broader, more public stage than a relationship would allow.
"Don't think I'm loyal, all I do is rap, how can I moonlight on the side" - I think he meant it to fool you, you were supposed to take it as "all I do is rap, where would I find the time to cheat on you?" but it's also pretty clear from the "all I do is rap, I can't do anything else" side.
And then obviously "make someone else famous" and "left me off your list" are pretty blatant.

I think TRShady should have a new rule that anyone who mentions SL gets permanently banned.

Seriously, why in the fucking fuck would you give 2 fucks about what a bunch of 12 year old, thug-wannabe fucks think about anything?

And regarding this topic, lol at people who "hate" on this song; it's simply fantastic.
