With The Slim Shady LP he was embodying a character and a mindset that was somewhat jokey and light-hearted (despite being sinister and dark), much more like a work of fiction...

Then with The Marshall Mathers LP he exploits misunderstanding for provocation and created a very angry, political, reactionary masterpiece. But, the misunderstanding of his character and the use of provocation to prove a point and push free speech... made it justifiable / mean something.

The Eminem Show was a more inward look at the man behind the mask, he more-so analyzed the potential (or so-called) damage he'd done / was doing to himself, his personal life and the public at large, as a result of his art, fame and controversial presence.

Lately, he's almost entirely focused on technical skill alone (flows, rhyming, delivery) and his content is aimlessly angry and he's playing into his old character of hateful mysoginist (and I find it pretty funny, as it's WAY beyond the joke - the point at which I think it becomes very interesting)...

I can't believe I even have to explain how he's angrier and more offensive than ever. If you listen to "Cold Wind Blows" or "Almost Famous"... how anybody could say he's toned 'it' (what's 'it'? - his anger? his hate? his ruthlessness?) down is ridiculous.

Again: the content of his lyrics or the things his anger are aimed at being less meaningful or intelligent, or his artistry as a whole not being as valid or noteworthy have nothing to do with him 'toning it down'. Speaking in basic terms, he's angrier and more in your face than ever.

I just wanted you to explain how he's been more offensive than ever lately (I assumed you meant Recovery and post-Recovery). I didn't even say I necessarily disagreed. I love the New Em just as much as I loved the Old Em, I didnt mean that he has lost his anger but He doesnt have as many emotional tracks as he used to, I love his New delivery, flow and the way he screams his lungs out but I still dont feel as if he is as angry as he used to be. But of course thats just an opinion.
