"My last gift to you, Slaughterhouse I give you." That had so much impact on my physically, just the way he said it.

The 'bottle / rage' metaphor to open this verse is genius.

The whole verse is genius but that initial opening, is fucking brilliant.

The only way I think there is to make Em mad would be if somethng happened to Hailey or someone in his family. He has tamed down a lot since He stopped doing drugs lol.

I hate it when I say people say this about 'new Em' lmao.

I don't care whether you like or dislike his new stuff, that's personal taste...

But when I see people say he's 'toned it down'... :confusion: are you serious?

Regardless of whether the anger is illegitimate or more in character or less justified, or about less important things... how the hell as he toned it down. He's screaming his lungs out on every track and trying (whether he's failing or not is not relevant) to be more offensive than ever.

In fact he's more aimlessly angry than he has ever been.

I think he meant Em's tamed down as a person.

In that he's shouting his head off in every direction (mostly women and faceless fans or rap rivals) with an endless slew of puns, cartoonish violence and anger.

With The Slim Shady LP he was embodying a character and a mindset that was somewhat jokey and light-hearted (despite being sinister and dark), much more like a work of fiction...

Then with The Marshall Mathers LP he exploits misunderstanding for provocation and created a very angry, political, reactionary masterpiece. But, the misunderstanding of his character and the use of provocation to prove a point and push free speech... made it justifiable / mean something.

The Eminem Show was a more inward look at the man behind the mask, he more-so analyzed the potential (or so-called) damage he'd done / was doing to himself, his personal life and the public at large, as a result of his art, fame and controversial presence.

Lately, he's almost entirely focused on technical skill alone (flows, rhyming, delivery) and his content is aimlessly angry and he's playing into his old character of hateful mysoginist (and I find it pretty funny, as it's WAY beyond the joke - the point at which I think it becomes very interesting)...

Um, but have you not been listening? lmao.

I can't believe I even have to explain how he's angrier and more offensive than ever. If you listen to "Cold Wind Blows" or "Almost Famous"... how anybody could say he's toned 'it' (what's 'it'? - his anger? his hate? his ruthlessness?) down is ridiculous.

Again: the content of his lyrics or the things his anger are aimed at being less meaningful or intelligent, or his artistry as a whole not being as valid or noteworthy have nothing to do with him 'toning it down'. Speaking in basic terms, he's angrier and more in your face than ever.

(and I didn't even go into Relapse! which is a totally unapologetic exploration of deplorable thinking for the sake of vivid and descriptive rhymes. TONED IT DOWN? how the fuck... just, no.)

I just wanted you to explain how he's been more offensive than ever lately (I assumed you meant Recovery and post-Recovery). I didn't even say I necessarily disagreed. I was just hoping for some elaboration because you usually explain things in a pretty eloquent way. But thanks for the totally condescending response, I guess.

I love the New Em just as much as I loved the Old Em, I didnt mean that he has lost his anger but He doesnt have as many emotional tracks as he used to, I love his New delivery, flow and the way he screams his lungs out but I still dont feel as if he is as angry as he used to be. But of course thats just an opinion.
