Everything in this post makes me lolNorway kills wrote:I hate the rap game these days. The only way to achieve commercial success is to get some horrendous pop star on the hook and rap over an even more horrendous beat. This is why Dre can't release Detox; it would flop so unbelievably hard. Even when he gave in and made I Need a Doctor, a song complete with Skylar Grey on the chorus and a beat by Alex da Kid, he didn't do very well. It is simply not possible for Detox to do well and still be a Dre album.

Selling 55,000 copies your first week (All 6's and 7's) isn't exacly what I would call a commercial success. It is good for a non-mainstream rapper like Tech, but it's generally mediocre compared to the sale numbers of more popish rappers like Wayne, Kanye and Jay (and Em, for the matter). My point isn't that there aren’t any good rappers in the game, my point is that only the sell-outs sell.
