Without Proof who knows if Em would rap. He is white and without Proof`s help, he would not get a chance to be heard. Maybe. Because, see, Em is a genious and people would notice that sooner or later. But, Proof had a big impact on him and that helped craeting Eminem we all know today.
Without Dre, one of the biggest names in hip hop ever, all the Proofs influence and helping would be worth nothing. Because, if Dre is producing you, you must be good, right? So, lets give this Eminem a listen.
Proof helped Em to get to the place where Dre will find him, and then Dre did his thing. But the brillian rap mind of Marshall is the most important factor here. He just needed someone to give him a push.
So, without those two, in my opinion, we would not be here talking about this.

Your telling me that without dre all proofs influence, help and basically your saying eminems rapping would be worth nothing?? With proof pushing him he had already gotten to a very high level of rapping before he ever knew dre/interscope and they were not the only ones taking notice. He was reportedly close to signing a deal with someone else before dre and was even in the sources unsigned hype column. Something else could have easily happened that would have resulted in him having a successful rap career. Obviously not the giant success we see today, but I bet we would still know about him.
Thats why I lean on Proof being more important. Proof was able to recognize ems talent when it was in a much rawer form which is a lot harder to do than what dre did and see it when it was a lot more developed/polished (thanks in large part to proof for helping make that happen).
Also lets not forget that proof created d12 and told em to come up with his alias for the group. Em took that advice and came up with slim shady and started rapping shock value lyrics because that is what proof wanted d12 to be about. Without proof there is no slim shady character that made him famous even though dre is given more of the credit for that. Its possible that em would have taken that slim shady rapping persona to another label and still got somewhat famous off it.
Obviously em (the talent himself) is the biggest part in making him what he is today, but talent does not typically rise up by itself and reach its potential unless there is someone else who is focused on helping it reach that. It takes a special type of person to do that and in my opinion for em that person who was the biggest contributor was proof.
