Would an Em/J. Cole track work?

Postby SoldierShady » Apr 23rd, '12, 21:46

I personally think so. That kid is talented as hell. :confusion: I've been scouring the interwebs for the past few days for some of his underground shit and I can safely say, lyrically, right now?....he's way, way up there. This song right here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrJKMUveNAI :worship:

Near-orgasmed when I heard that third verse. He's a badass producer as well :y: None of that Alex da Kid/Boi 1Da shit.
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

God I hope so. Cole is my 2nd favorite rapper at the moment, to Eminem. I like his mixtape stuff more, but his album was solid too. And yeah, Cole is a hell of a producer.

Now, I don't know how well their styles mesh, eh. The closest Cole verse I've heard that could work with Em was any verse from "Dreams".

Would love a 'Take from Me'-type track. Both having the Em delivery/voice on that one - just screaming their asses off. Em would win the screaming-contest though, he always does :flutter:

That would be awesome! Cole makes great tracks. Em needs to work with him.

I find Cole to be pretty average... but I wouldn't mind seeing J. Cole ft. Eminem

But he raps about his personal life and problems, so isn't that enough for you?

OT: Yes. Em would just have to change his subject matter to a more serious one and I think something could work, yeah. Depending on the subject matter of the track of course...if the track isn't serious then obviously Em has more room to joke around as long as Cole has a similar subject in his verse...Cole is a storyteller so I think a storytelling track like The Reunion COULD work. But a track similar to Take From Me would be more down Cole's alley I think.

It's not just about Rapping about your Personal life and having Substance you gotta Sonically sound interesting, good and grab the listeners attention doing it and having heard J Coles Mixtapes and Albums he never did that he bored me.

I also can't relate to what J Cole Raps about either. But it's mainly him sounding Musically poor to me as far as his Production which i find terrible, poor Hooks, weak Flow etc.

I dunno, but from what I've heard of his music so far - J. Cole bores me to death.

I don't find him exciting to listen to, or innovative.

It's actually quite depressing - the lack of innovation from new guys. There's lots of TALENTED new guys, but they're not coming up with original concepts or trying anything particularly new, beyond style. Not just new guys though, most guys atm. It's just all self-analytical, bragging and themes.
