Lol, I'm not a teen. And my brother (6 year older than me) is a big fan of Eminem since almost his beginning.

I agree with you. The teens of today are VERY different from the teens of back then. They are much dumber and have been over-saturated with pop radio garbage. His music isn't JUST for teens though, I know of some older people who still enjoy Eminem's music. Hell, my mom likes some of his music.

But then again, I also believe that his albums are aimed at a more mature audience as well. He cusses like a sailor in almost every song (not for kids) and is always talking about abusing women in his recent music. He's starting to make "I don't give a fuck music again" (which is what he needs to do) and I highly doubt his 14 year old fans who only know his Recovery singles appreciate those songs. His music is NOT ENTIRELY for teenagers. Maybe his songs like NA and LTWYL are aimed at that audience but albums like Relapse, and most of Recovery really IS NOT to be heard by an immature audience. If a kid listens to Eminem and is mature enough to not take lyrics literally and not let Em's music influence him then it's alright imo for the kid to listen.

His music videos on youtube are most popular with kids at 13-17. With most hip-hop artists it's 18-24 or higher. His music must still have the same appeal to kids as it did a decade or so ago. You just have to look at his lyrics to see it isn't pointed towards them though.

I don't entirely agree witj that, because pop music was just as widespread in circa 1999 as it is today with acts like Britney Spears and NSYNC.

Pop music back then > pop music now. At least imo. Brittany Spears and NSYNC had more talent than a lot of pop artists today. Of course, Spears fell off hard and NSYNC are no longer relevant.

My 8 & 10 year old brothers go to school and they tell me all their classmates love Eminem and not one fucker likes YM (I think maybe their generation will turn out better than ours). See, that doesn't mean his lyrics are aimed at teenagers at all, they are actually for young adults and your fucking retarded if you can't see that, I see you Blu. I think someone's just mad that Eminem's music so far has been timeless and able to cross over into MANY generations. My 43 year old uncle and all his co-workers love Eminem. He's a fucking classically trained piano player but he acknowledges the talent in other genres, he thinks that Eminem is a genius even on Relapse (I was surprised because not people I know love Relapse). In fact, at one point I thought he was on this site 'cause he talks a lot like you and he ain't even a stan. I turned him on to Eminem and he just loved it. I think Stan is his favorite song now and he likes Eminem's humor. Then I have cousins in their 30s that love him, case and point is that his music relates to all ages however it was directed for a mature audience. Blu, you better get a clue that these threads are almost as fucking retarded as Aftemathers' and lakewaking's threads. #atempttosoundsmartfailed

And I know this paragraph can be hard to understand, so suck a nut cause I wrote this shit on my phone.

Eminem's music has always been pointed towards me.

"Hi Kids, do you like violence?" Yes
"These voices, I hear them, and when they talk I follow" Yes
"I was harassed by this fat kid" Yes
"Tired of being stared at" Yes
"No more fightin wit dad, no more restraining order" Yes
"Don't you wanna grow to be just like me" Yes
"Now you're sitting in the corner crying" Yes
"I tried suicide once and I'll try it again" Yes
"When life makes you mad enough to kill" Yes
"Extortion, snorting, supporting abortion,
pathological liar, blowing shit out of proportion
The looniest, zaniest, spontaneous, sporadic
Impulsive thinker, compulsive drinker, addict" Yes
"We all experience things in life, trials and tribulations" Yes
"I like happy things, I'm really calm and peaceful" Yes
"My brain's gone, my soul's worn and my spirit is torn" Yes

So in conclusion, Eminem was trying to reach out to me. The rest of you people are just delusional.

I think there is those teenagers who relate to what he Writes about like those that grew up in poverty, grew up on welfare, grew up with no father, the young teenagers who are parents can relate to his Songs about his daughter.

But then there is the Upper Middle Class teens who never experienced any of the struggles or know anything about living in the rough poor enviroment he did or coming from a broken home but like the Music cos Eminem gives these wealthy teens who had a good life come from a good backround insight into coming from that poor, troubled, rough enviroment and backround. He tells the story in detail to them what it's like to grow up with struggles.

He's really addicting. I mean, he tells the story so well that you can actually feel what he's feeling and relate to him even if you've never had a bad day in your life. He has such a strong pull that is emitted from such deep, personal, and substantial lyrics that you can't help but listen. It's great. And that's why he deserves to be so successful.

This is the thing you make a great point but the thing is when a listener/fan of his says to him this Song or that Song helped me through tough times it got me through the roughest times in my life to hear that would be like the most pleassurable thing for Eminem from his fans. That is what would give him pride as an Artist to know that his Music was so powerful that it actually helped million of people.

And his music has helped people. I think he was really shocked to find out once he became well known, how many people could relate to him. It really caught him off guard that when he was at his worst, he truly wasn't alone and that's why it seems that he would need us to be more loyal fans than some of us have been. Writing was Eminem's therapy, but actually having people listen to him and really take it to heart must have been nearly orgasmic, for lack of a better word, and maybe even healing for him.

But at the same time, he probably wanted to tone his music down a bit because that strong pull that he has has caused some of his fans to be a bit too crazy for him. Like they are one with him or something, which would scare anyone, lol.
