Taylor Swifts album sold over a million in 2010.

IN A WEEK?! :o

didn't know that. That's sick.
August 22 2013 - from Berlin to Paris, 400€ spent just for Eminem. IT WAS WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT!

No, it is his fault. Look at Adele: sales for 21 rose ridiculously after her Brit awards performance. Eminem's sales have long been linked to hype, raised through TV appearances, radio features compounded by endless freestyles and interviews, and even his own sections on shows like MTV. He has been extremely poor at doing this lately, and whilst I think the album gap will create a buzz in itself, how much his record sells is really down to him. He can choose whether he wants to go to interviews and make numerous appearances on the radio, I don't believe that he is completely under the whim of Paul and the label.

^Em don't give a fack about his sales anymore. He had already gone through all those crazy moments before. He don't have to do all those dumb ass shows to promote his music. His name itself is good enough to sell better than any other rapper out there.

Adele just went Diamond in the USA, and she has 15x platinum in UK (UK doesn't have Diamond I guess). She has sold 22 mil records worldwide with 21, and just out passed Thriller in UK sales. Just saying, if that's possible then I think he could.

Edit: He is also the most liked person on Facebook, he has more people talking about him than Nicki Minaj on Facebook but he doesn't interact with fans as much as she does and he didn't just put out an album. If he doesn't use accents and just does him on his next single he will sell a mili easy.

Why even compare a rapper to pop and country artists.Their music is more appealing.Thats why they are selling good numbers. And still em is the biggest selling artist of last decade.

Lets talk about hip-hop on this forum for fuck sake.

You missed the point entirely, I'm suggesting that if Adele can do those numbers there is no excuse to why Eminem can't do a mili. I mean, he is definitely more popular than her, she is just trending as of now and he isn't. So fuck off. And last time I checked there isn't a pop or country singer doing sales more than Recovery as of now except Adele.

I still think if Adele wasn't a cow, she wouldn't be as popular.

Honestly, she's selling so much because she is the alternative to the dance craze. She is the backlash of what happens when nearly everyone popular goes down that route. What I'm saying is that if Adele can still go Diamond in this day and age, then the highest selling artist of the last decade should be able to do a mili in his fist week, I didn't say replicate her numbers.

This I agree somewhat with, she won't sell so much again. People are starting to get annoyed with her being on the radio 24/7. Kind of how people got tired of Thiller. She will never meet the standards she has set, even though 21 is very average compared to music from 70s-Early 20s. She is just big because young people think its never been done before because all they mostly know is dance music and club bangers from Gaga to YM. Also, I just looked at Adele's timeline. It said she is most popular with 18-24, same as Eminem's timeline on Facebook. However, you can argue that only Young people use Facebook, but this is the most accurate measurement I know of. Also, I didn't mean to come off as hostile in my last post, sorry. But I'd like to hear your explanation.

I'd say Gotye is a better singer than Adele, just an opinion. To each is own though.

I don't like comparing a rapper to a pop artist either, I only used her because she is the only one close in current popularity to Eminem and is a better representation of what Eminem could do sales wise than Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, or Kanye West (the five biggest rappers as of now under Eminem). This is simply because Eminem attracts a fan base outside of the hip hop world as well as encompassing a large portion of the hip hop world. The only chunk, it's a small one at that, that he may not be part of in hip hop are the people that worship ICP, and this was the case before he ever did Recovery and worked with Rihanna and Bruno Mars (he was already bigger than them, and that's for anyone that brings that point up as a counter argument). So, I can firmly say, I believe he could easily sell a million copies his first week if he hypes everyone with an amazingly popular single, I just hope the single doesn't sacrifice his artistic integrity.

Also, if you want to get a sense of Gotye's singing talent:

The high notes on these songs are higher and better controlled than anything I've heard Adele sing. If she has done something better than that point it out and I'll admit I was wrong. Also, I find Gotye's music to be more artistic and addicting. "Somebody I Used To Know" has a deeper meaning than any love song I've ever heard a pop singer sing (he's an alternative/electronic blend though we will say he is pop for sake of discussion). Also, he has probably some of the deepest music videos and lyrics in popular culture currently. These two are probably his least artistic songs, but they are the only ones that could crossover, so far, into pop. But I think the Gotye discussion should end here because this isn't the place for it.

^How much popular he may be is, its impossible to sell something like that now.Adele's sold so much because all those old people bought her album. They got something to listen from a young singer after a long while(probably since that norah jones's album i guess). So they all bought it because they don't know how to download it through internet.

Recovery was as mainstream as he can get.And it sold 4million(which is incredible for a rapper now). And thats all he can do.

I don't listen to pop music much.Rolling in the deep is the only Adele's song i've listened to.I would care less about a male pop singer.

Point taken, but you never know. Like someone said, if Recovery came before Relapse, Relapse would have sold much more. I think that he will do better now that Recovery is out.
