Why shouldn't he? He doesn't have to make serious songs all the time.

There is a large possibility that without My Name Is, Eminem wouldn't have become famous.

Doesn't matter that Song only reached 53 on the Chart anyway

My name is, is very important in Eminems Career, brings tears to my eyes to say it but without that song, and maybe another hit we might not know Em today! :( but the track is definitely very important to Eminem becoming famous!

That song is not only what made him famous, but its literally the perfect single to introduce slim shady by. That track is dope as fuck. Theres nothing corny about it other than maybe the hook which was done so intentionally to be catchy like a radio single should be.

Aftermathers you do realize that in my name is he is talking about some of the same serious dysfunctional family shit that you like to praise him so much for in other songs. You should like it as its right down your alley. Never could understand the hate on that song.

It's just let Em just be serious all the time be Deep and no 1 can say a bad word and critisize him for records like My Name Is

Now if he gonna do some fun tracks thats fine he should just have done 1s like Smack That or So Bad

It's just My Name Is and Slim Shady as stated in this thread people just find corny that kinda music just isnt for everyone

Where as a Song like Mockiungbird or 8 Mile Road or Beautiful most can relate to they just good Music

^As I have already pointed out to you that song and the whole SSLP is way more serious and deep than you think. It was his REAL LIFE experiences that led to the creation of this disillusioned, anti-social slim shady character. Its not just some joke. He even basically explains it that way in the song and he has said many times before that it was a real part of him. Thats how he was able to perform it so well. Slim Shady the character gave us a lot of Em's best music because it is funny AND serious at the same time. Its actually fucking genious. Some just cant see it.

Maybe your right and its not for everyone, but neither are the songs you listed.

The people in here burying their heads in the sand is rather sand. You might as well just cover you hears and sing *lalalalla* really loudly and try to ignore the truth.

To those saying that's just a handful of people, keep deluding yourself. That's one thread. You know how to work the search function, find any Eminem thread in there and you'll see nothing more than constant hate and abuse toward a person referred to mostly as a CAC. Those forums are just one example. Twitter is another. The internet has idiots, but it also reflects the views of people more than any other tool today. The overwhelming majority not only don't rate Eminem, but don't like him either.

You guys simply ignore so much. Whilst Eminem was dominating the charts with his last album, there's a reason why his songs had almost NO IMPACT on Urban Radio. Urban Radio does not care about Eminem, nor do they play Eminem.

The biggest delusion is the racist tapes. If you truly believe that wasn't the nail in the coffin (no pun intended) for Em's legacy in the black community, you're reaching. IF anyone really believed his lame ass excuse for it, with the girlfriend breakup and whatnot, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I wanna sell you. His racist tapes have nothing to do with Benzino. Everyone knew Benzino had an agenda against Eminem, everyone knew he was a dickhead, but that doesn't eliminate what Eminem did. The fact that this dude went on air and then potrayed Lauryn Hill as a racist makes things even more salty. When has Lauryn Hill ever come out calling white people CACs? Jay Electronica, who's not one to hold back, described the situation well, despite going overboard to an extent.

Eminem's legacy is very tainted. To think otherwise is to....

dudes highest selling rapper by millions and millions and his skill level 'gets you nowhere"

Selling loads of album/singles doesn't make you talented. Look at Britney Spears, whom has sold around 200 million records, yet she lacks any form of talent.

Eminem IS the best but sales isn't what makes him amazing.
