Sounds like it was written by my 3rd grader cousin who shows absolutely no creative aptitude whatsoever (he's more of a science/math kid).

This music makes me ashamed to be a teenager of this generation.

"Turn the light off now
Now I'll take you by the hand
Hand you another drink
Drink it if you can
Can you spend a little time
Time is slipping away
Away from us so stay
Stay with me I can make
Make you glad you came"

If you can't notice the technique used there.. then.. :facepalm

Unless its meant for teenagers, as in, something to rebel against their parents than this is dumb

I fail to see the "rebellious teen" aspect of SSLP.

Rock Bottom and If I Had are about a young adult who is broke and frustrated over his disappointing status. What teen relates to that?

97 Bonnie and Clyde is a dark tale of driving to the ocean to dump the body of his wife and her new husband and step-son into the ocean. For teenagers? Rebellion?

Not seeing it. At all. That's his most mature album, bar none.

The Eminem Show had much more "teen rebellion" in it.

It's utterly baffling how ass-backwards people describe Eminem's music sometimes.

There is definitely a "rebellious teen" aspect in SSLP.

The 'just don't give a fuck' mentality being a theme that a lot of rebellious teens would respond to.

OH MY GOD IT MADE IT!

Damn this song is song of the year, no doubt.

Dude, if you don't like the song just say you don't like it, you don't have to bash it.

Well no fucking shit it's for teens did it take you this long to figure out? Doesn't make it any bad by any stretch or any less music than songs aimed at the adult demographic, saying it's otherwise is stupid. It's like me saying Gooesbumps books are aimed at the late teens demographic when it's so not the case, doesn't stop me from liking the books as much as I did when I was younger.

I don't agree with you at all. I think Eminem just matured. I don't think it has anything to do with aiming it toward teens. How is The Way I Am pointed toward teens? I was actually 19 when the slim shady LP came out, and I didn't feel like it was just for teenagers. I was into Eminem up through my twenties. I'm 31 now and I still find him relevant and as he's matured so have I.

He's just gotten older and his topics has changed as he's gotten older. It happens with all musicians.

And teenagers are no different no than they were 10 years ago. Really.

The thing is, once you get to be older all this shit doesn't matter anymore and you realize music is just music--made to enjoy. I seriously doubt that Eminem made his music for anyone but himself. It's clear that he is influenced by the Beastie Boys through all the wackiness. (Check out some of the BB pranks.) He was just doing his thang, and probably high most of the time to be honest.

He's just making music, he's 40 now, and what's he gonna do? Keep making the same kind of stuff he used to? No. Because he's not 25 anymore. He's 40, and people change.

Not true at ALL. Teenagers have gotten dumber. That explains music as a whole's decline. Why do you think music back then is better than now? Because it was a different audience.

Obviously there are plenty of exceptions lol. But the majority of teenagers are dumb as fuck and I'm sure you'd agree.
