I think it was F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment)
I suck @ keeping track of time but I'm guessing it was 2002 cause I got The Eminem Show.

I've been listening to Eminem since 2002 or 2003, but I didn't bother to buy any of the CDs until around 2008/2009 (with a used copy of MMLP) when I was 18/19. I now own-

MMLP
SSLP
Eminem Show
Encore
Refill
Hell the Sequal
Recovery
D12 World
Devil's Night

Owning physical copies are worth it. I try not to buy digital copies because computers always fuck up these days.

Me and my friends at school could never buy any of his music because we were too young and shops wouldn't sell them to us lol. So it was a matter of borrowing them off people's older brothers, and that sort of stuff. Usually involved us having to do favours for them first, or giving them our best Pokemon cards. :(

I think it'd be TES, that's when all my friends in school were talking about him. Everyone was obsessed with the guy, even my librarian had said she was going to watch 8 Mile, and this was like a 35 year old woman who you'd think would dislike rap. Oddly enough, the first Eminem song I heard was Cleanin' Out My Closet. However, I remember Encore WAY more than I remember TES memories. But I remember 8 Mile's hype clearly.

Finally when 8 Mile dropped, my group of friends and I would always talk about it and about certain scenes in the movie. The teachers used to give us odd looks because it'd be a group of like..5 boys, with hoods, talking about Hip-Hop and reciting lyrics and shit.

Fuck...such hype, I miss that.

Man... I remember doing the entire Shelter battle at the end of 8 Mile with my friends, shit was ill! It was like a little kid cypher. Looking back, I miss those days.. I wonder if any rapper nowadays could bring that sort of hype back.

From the current batch? Probably not. I haven't seen a rap artist since Em back in the day have the world's balls in his hands and just waiting for him to make his next move.

Yeah, it's sad. I think that's why despite every fan that's pissed at his recent work, they're still going to listen to his music no matter what. I mean shit, can you image the day when Em finally says "This is it guys, I had fun. I'm out."?

Word. Who knows though, I mean when Em leaves, we might see the next guy (Or even girl!) reach for Legendary Status. I mean, who would've thought that a couple years after we lost Biggie and Pac, out comes a skinny white boy that was able to piss the entire world off? It's crazy to think about.
