In High School, He Was Bullied by Eminem Fans. Now, He's a Budding Rapper Known as "The Gay Slim Shady..."

Rap has a notorious reputation for homophobia, but is that all starting to change? Rappers like 50 Cent, Game, Fat Joe, and A$AP Rocky have softened their tones of late, just like society at a large. But that assumes that these rappers are steering the ship: after all, deeply-set homophobia has been a major put-off for gay fans for decades, and potentially a starting point for more reactionary lyricism.
Like those of Cocky da Homo MC, aka "The Gay Slim Shady," an out-and-out gay rapper who has no problem dropping grenades on the most venerable of rap legends: Biggy, Tupac, and especially Eminem.
Blasphemy? Depends on the perspective. You see, Cocky blames Eminem's rampantly homophobic lyrics for a nightmarish streak of bullying in high school. Which is why he's more than happy to assume the Shady-based nickname, and deliver some 'gay power' rhymes that are just as powerful as Em's. "I had a shot at being happy back in junior high," Cocky relays. "My only problem was that Eminem got f--king signed. I was bullied and picked on for being gay my entire life."
If you need a primer on Eminem, here's the sort lyricism that Cocky is referring to (taken from the track, 'Criminal').
"My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge
That'll stab you in the head
whether you're a fag or lez
Or the homosex, hermaph or a trans-a-vest
Pants or dress - hate fags? The answer's 'yes'"
then...
"Hey, it's me, Versace
Whoops, somebody shot me!
And I was just checking the mail
Get it? Checking the 'male'?"
Which is why 'The Gay Slim Shady' is hitting back with equally caustic lyrics, expressed by the other team. The just-dropped mixtape, Cockaveli, is unflinchingly gay and raunchy (not that there's anything wrong with that...) That includes lots of fighting words: in 'Givin' Up,' Cocky encourages fellow gays to form violent gangs. And despite hip-hop's violence, Cocky seems completely unafraid of spraying a target list that includes everyone from Soulja Boy, Eminem, Game and even Rick Santorum.
"You know the rapper Game, I know the rapper Game,
I want to take my d--k and stick it up his frame.
I hope he don't complain, cuz that would be insane,
He got a rainbow tat, smack dab across his face...
