So, why do they march the streets saying "I`m gay!!!"?
...
...Im proud of being straight. I dont march around telling people.
They are gay and proud of it. They dont need to march around telling everybody about it.
To me, it makes no difference if someone is gay or not, however i feel that it is strange that gay people do all the marches and stuff, it will just attract attention to them... nothing good will happen because it, if anything happens therefore it wil be a negative reaction.
Lets say we were at an athletic event, and i won gold in the 100m race. There is a room full of people that won gold medals in other races or events. I go into the room, and i tell everyone that i got gold in the 100m. They dont really give a shit, its something to do with me, its something im proud of but its not something i need to go up and tell all of them. A gay pride march is the same thing. They are going and telling everyone that they are gay... Great, so what? how does it affect me? Why do you feel the need to tell me something like that? I can understand that it might make them feel better being able to tell people that, as before they came out as being gay it might have been difficult to keep it secret, so maybe they feel good for saying it, but that doesnt mean everyone has to know. I dont walk into a room full of gay people and tell them im straight*, so they dont need to do the same to me.
*If i did do that, coincidentally, i would get in trouble and i would be called homophobic or something, regardless of my intetions or reasons for saying it. Does that seem fair.... no. So if the whole homosexuality issue is about equality for people, lets make it equal and just be who we are, without having to tell everyone. Which leads onto emma's point:Guess_Who wrote:people should calm down and take care of their own lifes and let the others in peace.
We all should, but having a march and forcing everyone to listen to you about your sexuality isnt a way of doing that.
If you think about it.
Im curious now, what do the rest of you guys think of gay marches? i dont find it offensive or anything, but the general idea from that quote ^ is that i find it unnecessary, verging on annoying. I dont have a problem with gay people (despite being an em fan, most people seem to think that is impossible but most of us here are evidence to the contrary), however i find the 'in-your-face' (not literally) attitude of homosexual people to be unnecessary.
