The Fiasco Experiment (Who's In?)

Postby Slim Fiasco » Jun 14th, '12, 19:47

After I've started to drop some pieces in the creative writing section, I have noticed even more how pathetic it is. It seems that people lack motivation to post or leave feedback. There's also the general consensus that people want to improve but are too lazy to practice their rapping skills enough. So anyway, here's an idea and an attempt from my side to try to make things better at least on the short-term. What follows is the description and a list of rules and benefits.

What's this about?

This experiment is a challenge to write and post one verse each day in the course of 12 days. A minimum of 5 people need to sign up. The maximum is 10. I will be part of this too, but I don't count in the minimum/maximum number of seeders.

Rules/Guidelines:

You shouldn't cheat and recycle some verses that you have stacked somewhere. The point is to write a new verse every day.

The verses don't have to be mind-blowing, all you need to do is try to write a decent piece corresponding to your skills level, and also try to improve depending on the feedback you get.

You can skip a day or two at tops, but only do this if something comes up and you have a very busy day. If you think you'll be busy through out the period, don't sign up at all.

You must leave feedback to all the pieces of the other participants, every day. You don't need to write essays as a review, but try to give a respectful opinion.

You only need to post one link of feedback in your new pieces.

You can skip one day to not give a feedback, but only do this if you don't have the time.

When you post your verse, add Fiasco Day 1 in brackets. Then day 2/3/4 as the days go on. It should look something like this: King (Fiasco Day 5). name had labeled this one freeverse, but you won't have to do that since most verses will probably be free ones anyway.

Benefits:

If you enter this, you will have the motivation and the challenge to write every day. This will improve your skills, and you'll have more fun doing it because of the existence of a goal.

You will get feedback from more people, and get to get more advices. Therefore, your efforts will be more appreciated too.

Again, this should be fun and kill some of the boredom you may face.

In order to sign up, you need to post this picture in a separate post. Further questions or comments should go in a different post . http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_luzvlpZxru1qzcuvq.gif

I am the only one who has the right to skip more days. This is because English is my foreign language, but moreover I've just started to practice my skills. Plus, it's a double standard so you can either go with it or fuck off.

I would like this to start on Monday, June 18th. I may add one more participant if more people apply but I doubt it will come to that. But just in case, sign up early.

The challenge has been accepted by (plus their verses for each day):

@Menzo - that's cool man, But if not enough people sign up, then it'd be good to have you at least partially.

@zabe - Yessir! Welcome aboard. :b:

@name - good point. We can also shorten the days to 10 if more people find that more suitable.

InsaneTRex94 wrote:I'm interested, and I will try to do it, but I might drop out. I can't write a full verse per day anymore, back last year when I used to pump out a ton of shit I was writing wack shit, I feel like I've gotten at least a little better since then because I'm much more meticulous.

If I join today, do I have to write a verse today? I'll probably write something for tomorrow.

Nah, we should/will start on Monday. And don't worry about the quality or redundancy in ideas. I'm sure you'll be able to come up with something somewhat average. Plus believe me, it'd be easier when you know it's a challenge.

hahah, same here I guess. Tomorrow is my last exam and now I'll have all the free time I need. Plus it'd be cool to keep on going with my writing that started the other day.

It definitely should. I'm excited to see how we'll cope with the challenge.

Haha, we would change your username to sell-out to say the least. Most people would be jealous as hell though.

But anyway, we're just 4 people now, which means only 3 have signed up. We need 2 more, guys. Hop in so that we can have some fun.
