^^
And that song was dope
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

It would depend upon when he drops the 1st single, tbh. If it comes after the SH Album(Obviously), and the song is dope, the single also follows the same lead, then we are looking at the high sale picture, if the scenario is opposite, then forget it. Because, Eminem is being dropping some average work lately. Fans are already miffed with that, if they are put to the same treatment, they would just not go for it. Hopes will then wander off to the 2nd single, thus, the story continues.

I had high hopes for Recovery and I loved it. But after that, I'm just not sure what's gonna happen. The Cypher did raise my hope, and it's the only thing on which my confidence now rests. Anything lower than that, sorry.

And, if he wishes to drop the Album in 2013, then he better release Relapse2 this year.

I think so.

I think both Relapse and Recovery and B.o.B's sales all proved it's not about singles now.

Em sold nearly as much with Relapse as he did with Recovery despite the fact Recovery had two gigantic #1 singles to precede its released compared to fairly quiet, weird singles for Relapse.

Then take a look at B.o.B. With his debut album: he had two massive international singles prior to the album's release and yet didn't even break 100k in the first week.

Not only is EVERYBODY (aka the plethora of casual and on-the-fence fans of Em's initial GIGANTIC reign) now aware that Em is fully back but he's grabbed a whole new generation of fans. I know because I see it, whenever I read Eminem comments etc... many recent fans STARTED with Recovery! No artist I've seen is able to come back out of nowhere and not only recapture his old audience but build an instant, new, massive following again like this...

And I know many may take issue with me saying Em has recaptured his old audience, but I think for the most part he has. Regardless of what you think of any of his content since his comeback, the point is: you still give a shit. If you didn't, you wouldn't be here.

I think the point is people can still sense that spark, that passion... if you take something like "Despicable" or really just sit there, step-back, and not take his talent for granted (as old fans tend to) and really just listen to the flows and lyricism of some of the songs on Recovery or Relapse... the precision of the delivery, the intensity; he's created some fucking captivating music again.

I don't think Relapse or Recovery are classics and he slightly ruined them both overall to me with some bad choices. But all in all, all the tracks are mostly great or brilliant in some sense.

He's taken his flows to a whole new level, and the rhyming is beautiful.

I think he'll do 800k + first week, regardless of singles or theme.

It might also depend on when he releases the album. Albums tend to sell more in the summer months and close to the holidays.

That guy was partially wrong though, as Love the Way You Lie only became a hit after the album was released (the song wasn't available before). So the first week sales of Recovery were only really based on Not Afraid (and hype from the previous album, etc.). Most people hadn't ever heard Love the Way You Lie before then.

With B.o.B's situation, Airplanes didn't blow up internationally either until after his album as released, only in the US. In my country, his album was released, and Airplanes got to #1 about 6 weeks after that. Although B.o.B's album didn't sell that well after Airplanes smashed anyway, so it still supports his point.

However, I don't think he'll top Recovery's sales. Certainly not in the long run. LTWYL's success was consistently selling Recovery for ages. He almost certainly won't have a hit anywhere near as big from this album, so he'll struggle to get those consistent sales imo.

Pretty sure people heard the song before Recovery?

Just looked it up and apparently it leaked on June 8th.

So people were aware of it weeks before the official release...

I don't think a song or two drives an album now.

Consistent sales from people like Kanye and Em have proven it's about expectation, longevity and excitement. They create excitement within their fanbase and overall by surprising people and always putting out something with significant effort, or significantly different in some way...

There's been many rappers with hits, with shit sales.

What truly makes people buy is the belief in a special artist. The mystique and sincerity of the passion are what drive people to follow and support artists... you have your 50 Cent's who have their first couple of albums blow-up from hits, but where is he now? he's barely got a presence and his last album sold a 6th of what Eminem's did in his first week. It ain't about hits.

It will do near same if not better. If sales are under 600,000 that would be huge flop. I think it could do 1 million in a week if it got a really popular first single and some good promotion.

I think Relapse made a lot of people hesitant to buy it. Then they heard it and bought it, that's why it kept selling consistently for months. I'm going to bet people arn't so hesitant this time as long as he gets a good single like Not Afraid.

It's possible, it all just depends on the single, I guess.

I think he meant the features he's been on and HTS.

I don't think that this next album will outsell "Recovery." But his next album will sell incredibly well, it will debut at #1 on Billboard and he will sell 500,000 or 600k in the first week.

On the singles. If the single is not a crossover track like "Love the Way You Lie" it will sell in the top 20 or top 10 of Billboard. For example, "Fast Lane" and "No Love" both singles that did not have much crossover appeal went at 32 on billboard. However, the hype for this single will let it top the "Rap Billboard Chart."

Now, I have a firm belief that Eminem is going to follow the Shady 2.0 forumla, release a strong first single that appeals to your fans, and then release a crossover single near the release of the album to generate sales. My bet is the second single features Skylar Grey.

Timeline:

- Late September/Early October: First single is released. Debut on #16 on Hot 100. #2 on Rap Chart
- November: 50 Cent's album released. #5 on Billboard. At least 1 Eminem song on the album.
- December: Second Single is released. Debuts on #4 on Hot 100. #1 on Rap Chart.
- Late December: Album is released. Debuts #1 on Hot 200.

As for guests and producers heres what I think is going to happen.

Possible Guests:
- Dr. Dre
- 50 Cent
- Slaughterhouse
- Yelawolf
- T.I.
- Royce Da 5'9''
- Skylar Grey
- Lil Wayne
- Drake

Possible Producers:
- AraabMUZIK
- Just Blaze
- Mr. Porter
- Bangladesh
- Boi-1da
- (Hopefully) T-Minus
- Dr. Dre
- DJ Khalil
