I OWE ALL COMON ALBUMS

and i listened to all of them thousands of times

This year he is like the good the face of hip hop thats y everybody blessing him but FOR HIM to get 5 MIC album i mean cmon "BE" has probably the worst beats i ever heard, it only has ten songs and the shit he talked about in the songs ......... Yes he does talk about sensible stufff but that does not make him a great rap artist, just like Kanye he uses the image of being UNCOMERCIAL ..... and u hear all these ppl who are showing off how they are more into that "uncomercial stuff"........ pittifull

Common = average hip-hop artist with a good message

NOWERE CLOSE TO CLASSIC

i dont think that the beats on "Be" were the worst but also not the best. for him being the "face of hip hop" this year, who knows maybe they are giving him a push but they also did that for Talib...but dont you think its good that conscience hip hop is back to spread a message instead of rap wars(that in my opinion has gone to a point where no one cares anymore) that has been around for the past years?...i liked "Like Water for Chocolate" how bout you?

Hip hop is not about conciousness its about LYRICAL SUPERIORITY *example:
Rakim*...... the only reason we praise rappers like Kanye and Common is because HIP HOP is a disaster these days, if they were rappin back in the days wen Red Man Dropped the first album, Pete Rock bridged the gap between jazz and hip hop *T.R.O.Y* and many more legends that emerged in the early 90s they wouldnt get as much props

Now im not saying they suck but im saying we shouldnt make legends out of them coz they aint done nutin so far that would resurect Hip Hop

If Rakim finally drops anotha Album next year that would be "salvation" coz aint nobody that is still alive that can make such an influence as he can

i agree w/ what your sayin about hip hop is not about conciousness, its about how you rock the mic...and i'm not forgetting about Pete Rock and CL Smooth, ATCQ, Eric B and Rakim, Brand Nubian i'm juss putting Common up there w/ them cuz he was also w/ the whole jazz meets hip hop= poetry...i'm not dick ridin, but people like Common, Mos Def, Pete Rock is still up there, and emcees like them are helping bring back the feel good hip hop. i'm not puttin Kanye up there as a legend yet...but i will if he does keep up his consistency. and i agree w/ you again that Rakim needs to come w/ another to put everybody in their place that say they're the best...man i havent had a good Hip Hop discussion in a long while, right on
