Will Em drop a verse this summer?

Postby Sekou » Jul 27th, '12, 08:38

Vote, bitches!

I think he's scared.

Nas, Kendrick, Cole and the whole G.O.O.D. Music crew as well as YMCB are trying to claim the summer, he knows he'd have to spit fire to put out something that will be considered relevant

Yeah, because a huge fanbase can definitely stop him from dropping something wack and losing his reputation

Do you think the crazed teenager girls are gonna stop listening to him because of one bad verse? Do you think ANYONE would stop lisetning to him all together because of a verse? Because that's retarded, you need to hear a full solo song/album to judge him, not the random verse here or there. Why would he be scared? He doesn't have to care as long as he has his fans who'll buy his shit.

EDIT: I'm afraid I might not be making sense. I guess it's too late for me to argue, not thinking straight. Disregard what I've said, I'm gonna go listen to the Dirty Steve skit right now.

Your wish is my command, I am going to ignore this post

I do think however that Em knows he can't claim anything in the game this summer, so he's just withdrawing himself. Better to drop nothing at all than something as forgettable as Richard, while the other artists keep bringing heat.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he only has a hook or two on that SH album tbh

He doesn't need to put out a whole album to prove that he's still got it. All it needs is a dope verse or two. He remained on the top of the game in '09 not only because of Relapse but he managed to keep the buzz with "The Warning" and his verse on "Forever".

Right now there's no buzz around his music whatsoever and I think he knows that he would fail to create any. I don't know about you, but he's not keeping me satisfied as a fan

He sees no sense in dropping a verse, cause it'll probably be forgotten in a week or two, which wouldnt be the case if he were able to deliver sth worthwhile, e.g. The Warning or Forever.

@Revolutionary: so if someone as big as Wayne... in this case Nas asked Em to do a collab he'd say yes? Apparently not

^ Fair enough, but didn't he say that he'd do another song about his daughter, but only on his own album?
If so, then that argument is kinda flawed. I could be mistaken but I recall hearing sth along these lines

Also, he wouldnt really have to put any personal info about Hailie in a verse on Daughters. He could just talk about what it's like to be an artist as big as he is and at the same time be a good father figure despite all the controversy surrounding his public persona. And also how its getting more and more difficult to shelter his daughter from everything now that she isn't a girl anymore but a teenager.

I just don't think he'll ever get a better opportunity to make another Hailie song without it being the same old song. So I don't see why he'd actually deny that offer.

One of the factors that lead to my admittedly exaggeratedly formulated conclusion

Yes, you're sadly mistaken.

Lol the irony! You want him to do a song completely based on the theme "daughters" while whining in it about how difficult it is for him to keep them away from the media spotlight? Lol great idea for a pardoxical concept.

How would this have been any different from those "same old songs" if he didn't go personal about their lives?

The fucker's done it most of his career, don't see why it wouldn't be applicable now.

Hardly. So much was released, demonstrated on the air or through mixtapes before his first 4 albums. Hardly a case of 'no-music'. Get your facts straight man!

I didn't say anything about whining. I was assuming he'd go with the same concept as Nas. Just the problems of dealing with and raising a teenage daughter as a father, and what missteps he thinks he made, e.g. spoiling her or not being strict enough. I don't think he'd have a problem writing such a verse and making it generally relatable, without exposing any details. Hell, the only really personal detail Nas mentioned was that Instagram incident.

Well for once he'd be dealing with his daughter as teenager and not as his "baby girl".

Except for the SH album, I don't think so.

He doesn't have to expose much details to make people gain some interest in her life again. We don't even know how much of stalking and stuff they have to deal with. It's not the same case with Nas and his daughter, and you already know why.

Aaaand apparently that's what he doesn't want. "Daughters" really got corny at points tbh!
