If it was finished before Em handed in Recovery then I dont know why it didn't make the cut! It fits perfect with the album theme, Recovery...It's him saying he needs a doctor to recover & he has 2 verses so it suited 2 be his track, not Dre's! Besides, it's getting wasted seeing as they did a video & it wont make Detox, unless it's a bonus track...Plus, I'd replace So Bad with this to get a dre verse on Recovery instead of that weak beat

First of all EM does not say he needs a doctor to recover lol
Apparently Dr.Dre is the doctor the song is all about & even though EM did 2 verses both of 'em & the one Dre did are all about Dre himself. The hook is a metaphor & it's about EM & hip-hop in general needing Dre. The beat is the only thing it'd fit on "Recovery" but overall it'd be way out of place since it's about Dre coming back, not EM.
Plus if you knew Dre's discography you'd know it's normal for him to have records with more guest vocal presence rather than his own. In general it's more than normal for producers & DJ's to do records like that most of the time.
Subject matter apart, I do agree though it's not a song for Detox either but it was a Jimmy fuck up, not Dre..
Bottom line is... the beat had to be/could be on "Recovery" since EM used another beat like that one plus many similar on the album, but the vocals had to be/ could be on ''Detox'' on a beat produced by Dre since the subject matter is all about Dre & since Dre is the greatest producer of all time & he always produced all his shit & never needed to look for what the public caters to & adopt to it.

The song was originally meant to be his way of telling people that he was getting clean. Nearly two days before he was scheduled to leave the hospital, approximately half the song was completed. When he left the hospital, he continued doing drugs, and scrapped the song.

He eventually came back to it in 2010 and wrote a different version, since he was already sober.

INAD being leaked shouldn't be the reason why it was released because the other songs weren't released. Cocaine and Fly Away are probably from a similar (2010). I think INAD was about to be released sooner or later anyway, the leak just sped up the process.

Dre DOES have a record of releasing songs that leak and do well. He redid "popped off" with T.I because it got a good reception. Plus, this is EMINEM, DRE and SKYLAR GREY... you cant compare it to a producer hook lol. Plus, here's a quote on the only other Detox single to be released that shows what i'm saying

Wait... is it a general consensus with casual listeners that I Need A Doctor is about Eminem needing a doctor for his recovery? Or is it just this guy? People do only listen to the hook...

I didnt mean that Em's verses were him saying he needs a doctor, I meant the hook & obv Skylar isnt the one that needs a doctor & neither is Dre smfh Em is talking about Dre in his verses but he is also saying how he needs Dre to be himself again & stop slipping! The hook has to have some meaning for Em & clearly is an apt metaphor for his mental state at that time when he was recovering from drugs...I dont just listen to hooks, I am a lyrics first listener & I dont usually care about a hook nor a beat, it's the verses that are important to me, which is why I dont bump Rick Ross, or any of these newer cats that have no substance & no lyrical dexterity!
