Mixing on this album is bad.. The vocals are drowned out by the beats / music.

For all we know its not CDQ. More of a reason to buy it

Em knows how to produce simple 2000-era beats, the production on "Asylum" is nice and easy.

Yeah, well that's what I prefer to be honest.

I don't think for something to get better, it needs to get 'bigger' aka have MORE drums, MORE samples, more layers; that's what beats feel like now.

I think it works that way with rapping in terms of wit, and rhyme schemes and complexity; that, in order to progress- new layers of evolution need to happen, but in rap, the beat is always a backdrop and I think it just ruins the song to try and make the beat overpowering. It's just a mess.

It's great, album of the year material.

I've liked a few songs but, ALBUM OF THE YEAR? not for me man.

There's not a single memorable concept or even really verse or moment to me. There's like the odd few seconds here or there of good flow or rhyming, but I was expecting a lot more.

I'm re-listening anyway, gonna get my second-listen on.

Agree , the mixing on this is all over the place , its horrible. If this is the final cut someone needs to get slapped. Some of these songs sound pretty good but they are ruined by bad mixing.

Nope I agree.

I sat there like "am i just in a bad mood?" or something because... everybody is going nuts over it but, I didn't hear a memorable verse or moment throughout to be honest... it just sounds like endless, formless babble and gun / fame talk.

Irrespective of creativity or concepts, or anything else, I at least expected some 'wow' verses, but everybody seems to just rap independent of beats, there seems to be no truly memorable patterns or flows, or rhyming throughout.

Feels like every verse is just them trying to verbally justify their existence, like all they know how to do is rap about how they can rap, but, it's not entertaining here.
