Yeah, I hate that song on Relapse.

It's fine by itself though. Shouldn't have included it. Singles shoulda been

We Made You
Crack A Bottle
3AM
Deja Vu

and replace Beautiful with a D12 song.

deja vu was the real em for many reasons, medicine ball fits but was odd for some reason, crack a bottle was only included cause it leaked and was #1 on the charts, we made you was interscope trying to bring back the old em and shouldnt have been a single. the best song on the album imo i think is must be the ganja in terms of voice, hook, rhymes and content

yes, that verse is beyond sick, i even emailed it to my professor in college who did criminal profiling and was all into serial killers. I told her to listen to em music and specifically quoted the serial killer part of that verse lol

The beat is so ambient as well. The "oooooooh" in the background is so chilling and goes well with this "hiiiigh" part on the chorus. Makes you feel like you're in a dark forest or something. I feel like that for a lot of Relapse. It's awesome.

that song stood out tho, the feel of it was true em to me, and it stood out also cause the content and subject tbh was kinda going against the whole relapse thing in terms of him talking about pills and being a serial killer, even tho he mentioned serial killers it still didnt seem to fully fit for me, but either way its the stand out track for me

I don't know man. Recovery just doesn't convince me. It borders so much on forced that I can't get my head round it. Like the agression was purposely put on and executed rather than it coming naturally. Also, the production on there was probably the most sub-par out of all his albums save for Infinite. Even Encore production shits on Recovery's from a huge height.

Edit: Actually, I don't wanna say "sub-par" production. More like less cohesive in terms of how the beats relate to each other overall. Like a....too many cooks type deal. Know what I mean? Also, now that I think about it..."You're never over" probably shouldn't have been on that Recovery. It seemed too late and too forced and he should've just stayed with the "every song on Relapse was a dedication to Proof" shit.

Same with Stay Wide Awake...I feel like I'm walking in a dim-lited park or something. I feel certain ways during many songs that you honestly can't get on Recovery. I feel some things while listening to H:TS though. But yeah, MBTG is fucking underrated...I love that song. A lot of other people don't like it but that 2nd verse is killer.

Yeah, I agree. That helped me put a finger on my feelings towards Recovery. It's like a huge update of Infinite with better rhymeschemes and flow. Like that positive, "non-slim shady" vibe you get when you listen to Infinite, I have the same feeling when I listen to Recovery (besides On Fire, Cold Wind Blow and the bonus tracks). I still think it's better then Encore. The rhymes, punchlines and flow on Recovery are sick but the main reason I love Eminems music is because of the Slim Shady persona and I don't like the "Stay strong - be positive"- message that album is sending. Even tho I think it's good to help people and that I don't feel like it's Eminems role in the music-business to help people in that way he's helping people with Recovery. But someone pointed out (maybe even in this thread?!) that Eminem is a rich man with a nice life and very little problems and kids that he have learnd to take care of so how the hell is he supposed to make songs that we can relate to other than "Stay strong, follow your dreams, you can be anything you want to be if you set your mind to it". And that's very sad, but also very true. So the only thing he can do now to please us Slim Shady-fans is to rap about killing celebs and raping lesbians like on Relapse. :8) :b:

StayWideAwake wrote:Honestly I thought recovery was way better than relapse until I started really appreciating lyrics. Recovery just became a little less special when I realized how much more he is capable of lyrically. I still love recovery don't get me wrong but relapse is so much more complex. I can easily see how em compared it to mmlp in interviews and in the process of making it. I'm still pretty damn sure that there is a relapse 2. I know everyone says we already heard it but didn't someone say he had enough material for 3 relapse albums? And just blaze said relapse was him re establishing himself in the game and relapse 2 was when he was gonna really start throwing shots. I don't think we saw that

Relapse 2 was scrapped because Eminem started to make songs that wasn't the same style as the first so he throwed the planned songs in the bin and continued with his "new" style and named the album Recovery. But if you look at all the bonus songs on Recovery and the features and freestyles he made 2011/2012 (+ Bad Meets Evil) it seems like hes going back to the Relapse-type songs but without the accent. Not too much serialkiller-topics but he slaps bitches ;) hehe. We just need to hold our thumbs. :)

I read somewhere that Dre had never smoked weed until he met Snoop Dogg haha. Don't know if thats true.

Sorry to backtrack but i'm still king of trying to get into Relapse. I have new favourites but still don't like a few. Haven't gotten into MBTG or Stay Wide Awake...might be the accent for SWA though, dunno why. I love the bolded and like the rest:

My Darling
Bagpipes from Baghdad
Beautiful
Crack A Bottle
Deja Vu
Hello
Medicine Ball
My Mom
Old Times Sake
Underground
We Made You
3 A.M'

So I guess i'm a fan of the album based off of that, dunno haha
