*So, DGAF sent me a FB message today telling me he recorded a verse on his phone. I had to suffer through putting all his shit on the beat and making his phone vocals audible haha. So I mixed this shit and I think it came out great. Props to DGAF for putting work in recording on his phone and actually trying to make audio. :worship: Enjoy!
*Cover of Common - Be

[Intro: Eedee]
This kid is spazzing out, recording on his phone in an abandoned house.
That's getting absurd... Sit down, shut up and picture his words.

[Verse: Mr. DGAF]
The pen is as mighty as the person that beholds it
When I've chosen to be focused it's a given I'll spit dopeness
As I close in on a target they regard me to keep waiting
But I'm far from being patient cause our lives are what we make it
So I'm taking what I've earned and looking forward with my life
Cause retrospect is twenty twenty but it's boring to be right
I'm not worried if I might screw up, mistakes are bound to happen
Like the way I found I'd rap until the day I'm crowned the captain
And it's crazy how I fathomed of the time when I was balling
All the times that I was bawling, sitting crying, almost lost it
Picture life and try to pause it, set it up and rearrange it
To a portrait I've created, but this isn't how I'd paint it
Colors blend with different races, black is white and so is Asian
From the Nile or Jamaica, we're all trying to be famous
In my eyes I know I'm great but still a failure in a few
I know I've changed, but so have you, it's just a phase that we went through
Back when the days would blend into another memory we had
When we would kill to have a pad so we could chill and have a laugh
Without the feeling that it's bad to want to do this stuff forever
Now I wonder if we ever changed or grew up from this level
Of appreciating music, differentiating tunes with ears of magic
Special tools that I would use to hear my passion
Without fear that it would pass me cause my rhymes are kinda timeless
It's alright to try and fight it but my lines are like the Mayans
They ignite and quiet millions as the world aborts its axis
Then my words work as a portal to export you into blackness
Where the lines of every song I've ever written brings the light
So it's impossible for you to miss the only thing in sight
Then maybe I would get respect like I deserve it when I write
I interwine my line so perfect, it's absurd to think that I
Could ever be the one that's slept on, well it's time to wake you up
It's amazing those who suck are getting plays while greatness slumps
But it's okay, I'll make it up with every piece I drop that gets
Zero looks and feed, well look it seems as if I've got to spit
And if I had a mic, I'd gladly write a song that you would love
But being broke and seen as hopeless makes it hard to want to trudge
On with this writing, I see why people can struggle to maintain
I never had it rough and always had enough to make pay
So with this piece I hope that I can increase all my cash flow
And if this makes me famous, let it be known that my path's mowed
For any other writer who can follow in my shadow
Cause I was just a stepping stone for people who don't have homes
And my past shows the ways I've started to where I am at so
With that known, I'll let my words show you where my raps go

Thanks for mixing pimp. Everyone excuse the phone quality haha, just wanted to get my shit out there in any way possible. Hopefully it's enjoyable too.

being that it was recorded on a phone, it sounds nice, he's got good rhymes and multi's, your intro sounded like you were tellin a story in a movie to, tho, the beat is not all that good

I'll give some in feed as this is easily my favourite written piece from you.

The flow and rhyming is great. I've actually flowed this quite a bit cos I enjoyed the piece.

Delivery is far to timid man, a lack of enthusiasm. Which sucks cos it's such a great verse. You're really monotone, try and change innotation patterns.

You stumble the flow a couple of times as well but overall the flows pretty good.
I feel this line is slightly awkward -> "we're all trying to be famous"
I'd change it to "we are trying to be famous" for a slightly improved flow.
I'm not tryin to be rude, but I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth

I can't speak for DGAF regarding his presence on the mic (phone lol), but I can speak for his flow on some parts.

When he recorded, I'm sure he had flawless flow. He prizes flow above everything. Now, when he records, his phone likes to make several files for everything, I don't know why but that's just how it is. So he sends me like 5 or 6 different files for a verse and I gotta place them correctly on the track for the flow to match up to what he originally spit. So if his flow is off, it's my fault in the mixing process putting his vocal files over the beat, not his (most of the time, unless this DGAF pimp just DGAF, nahimean?).

So yeah. If the flow is off, blame me, not DGAF, for his stupid phone has shitty recording abilities and I do my best to place those on the beat. But it's still worthy of major props to DGAF for recording with his phone in an abandoned house. The dude wants to make rap music. That's worthy of applause. :y:

Appreciate the feed guys! This is only the third time I've recorded, still working on a lot. For the tone, the phone doesn't really pick up much in terms of voice intonation. I'm really trying to get a mic to help better that. But I do agree, my voice is pretty deep and delivery is something I need to work on.

Recording on a phone? That's dedication. :worship: Good shit.

For the song, the flow is fucking amazing, besides the cash flow line where you slipped just a bit. I love it. The multies are just everywhere, amazing as well.

My favorite bars have to be:

"Where the lines of every song I've ever written brings the light
So it's impossible for you to miss the only thing in sight
Then maybe I would get respect like I deserve it when I write
I interwine my line so perfect, it's absurd to think that I
Could ever be the one that's slept on, well it's time to wake you up
It's amazing those who suck are getting plays while greatness slumps."

The writing technique is great, I can tell you put a lot of thought and focus into it...very advanced writing. You're one of the best writers on here, and have improved leaps and bounds from the first time I read your shit backkk when. Good shit man, keep at it..and let me just say that it's that kind of dedication that makes people go far, GOOD SHIT :beerchug: :worship:
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Nah, don't do that. Wait until you can get a mic. You don't want people hearing your crappy phone quality now, do you? Especially if that's going to be their first impression on you.

Crashband already said it, but the second you buy a mic, add some enthusiasm. It's all about your mic cadence. It's why rappers like Chief Keef are well-known. They're really charismatic with their words, they wrote the shit down so they're going to add some spirit in their lyrics because they know people are ALWAYS making judgments.

Good luck man.

I agree with this.

It may be hard adding enthusiasm because you feel a bit 'not sure if serious' doing it. It's almost has to be quite exaggerated.

Really work on your charisma / delivery and then you can have a piece that people could well bump.

Yeah I mean I wasn't planning on releasing an album of phone quality haha. But definitely appreciate the advice, I will try and get a mic soon for some better quality. Then I can work on charisma and whatnot, which I agree with you guys on. Thanks for checking guys!

I don't have a huge problem with the phone quality. Just stressing how important delivery and charisma is but it might feel weird and exaggerated doing it.

Yeah I get that, and that's something I'll be working hard to remedy in future drops. it probably will feel weird since I already have such a deep voice but I'll do whatever it takes to get better.

To be honest, DGAF should continue doing phone quality stuff until he gets a mic. That way, he'd have practice, know exactly what he should be doing so when he puts out his first "real" piece and it'll be killer.

Plus I think I did the best job I could mixing his phone quality vocals. There's a huge difference in the end result than from the many vocal files he sent me lol
