If you think in terms of inflation it almost has. My logic: in 2002, the best selling album of the year was The Eminem Show with 7.5 million albums sold in the US.
In 2010, the best selling album was Recovery with 3.5 million.
So in my twisted logic, it's near-diamond already.

yeah 4.3 or whatever its def not 5 million and idk if it'll ever go diamond and if it does we'll all be dead by that time.

I hate to say it but I've said something similar before, unless em has an album coming out and releases a smash hit as his number one single and then dies before the album is released (i.e. heath ledger effect) he prolly won't have another diamond album. It's just the way the times are these days

honestly more and more people are starting to buy albums less and less. it's all just buying singles off itunes. now itunes downloads get certifications. i don't even know why artists even bother making full albums these days. it's financially better to just punch out hit singles 4 times a year. :shakehead:

just wait, im sure in the near future it'll be something close to that, where they release a single or 2, then each song individually, and only after all the songs are released make it possible to buy the "album"

Isn't Adele's album like 9x platinum already? After only one year?

It will take a very long time. 10 years at least. Sure it will be boosted just like older albums if he releases a new album. It took The Eminem Show a while to get there and Recovery is way behind what that album had reached in sales after 2 years. If there were somehow a boom in albums sales again in the next decade than anything can be possible but the future doesn't look great for album sales still. His next album could well overtake Recovery though but it all depends on promotion and the singles chosen.

aren't like half her songs (out of what... 10 songs?) singles?

Adele won't ever reach that again anyway. she's exactly the kind of artist to fall under the pressure of a successful album.
