Em definitely made the right choice by dropping 'goofiness', it's not natural now, it looks like he's trying to recapture his vintage parody which was, back then - natural.

"Fast Lane" struck a pretty awesome balance to be honest... the 'penis / anus' line and that kind of... jokey, honest humour, delivered in a serious way best suits him.

Em is definitely funniest when being dark, self-deprecating and spiteful, not when he's being goofy and silly. I just want something creative though; nothing like previous work.
