Yep, because the older most people get; the more stringent and stiffened they become in their thinking, their views and their opinions. So anything which differs from any of that is like a shock to the system; where as kids are free, open, uninhibited, aka; artists.
Children are seeing things in the world for the first time and seeing some basic things adults can't see, but they don't have the tools to make meaningful art out of it. Good artists are adults who are able to see things from that unadulterated perspective and put it into words/paintings/music/whatever.
An artist doesn't have to be capable, to be an artist.
There are many artists, many of them are shit. The term 'art' does not have to imply GOOD art, good or bad is preference, opinion... debate.
I didn't say children made great artists, I implied they summarized the foundation of what it means to be one. I think a great (adult) artist is a competent, intelligent, conscious person who still has the freedom, experimentation and innocence of a child; with all pluses of an adult.
