Considering people were starting to accept the fact that Jay was falling off after The Black Album, those sales were completely expected.

OK ...just exclude the fact that Em is a much bigger name than Jay. Not to mention it was his big comeback, so people were reeally excited for it. Relapse's sales would have been gradually lower had Eminem released one or two albums during his hiatus.

No, it hasn't outsold Relapse at all. I don't think Jay will ever outsell Em.

It did pass ''Relapse'' even though it started way slower...
''Relapse'' had very strong first two weeks but little by little lost pace, while both Jay's & BEP's albums had way lower first two weeks but kept going strong afterwards & leapfrogged it & kinda pulled away of it. If they didn't re release ''Relapse'' probably ''Recovery'' would've still dragged it back ahead of those two albums but even if it did, it would've taken way more time. But with like about 150k first week after the re release EM needed a few more weeks & ''Relapse'' went back ahead.
It kinda sucks this way because those sales are not for ''Relapse'' only even though they count them this way... I mean the re release obviously had a few new songs on it, plus it was even cheaper Interscope put ''Forever'' on it too which isn't even EM record. If we didn't talk about Eminem I'd say that was desperate. Those geniuses at Interscope had to just release ''Relapse 2'' and put ''Relapse'' on sale & it would still have done it anyway & it'd would've been legit as well.

Even though I strongly, strongly disagree, that wasn't my point. Weren't people generally disappointed with Relapse? The reception was mixed at best by critics and fans and Geno was acting like everyone loved it and he proved everyone wrong about him falling off lol. Maybe he was talking about Recovery though idk.

@Accor weren't the reviews for American Gangster just at "OK" and "mediocre"? We all know Kingdom Come sucked balls, but I remember people saying American Gangster was average.

Nope lol, it was almost universally acclaimed. I think it got 4-5 stars on Rolling Stone, 85 or so on Metacritic, etc.

Geno wrote:I was talking about Relapse. Relapse's lyricism alone proves that he redeemed himself after dropping Encore. I never said everyone loved it lol. You're making things up. Relapse is quite obviously leagues above Encore. If he continued to fall off it would've been worse.

Lol well I don't agree that it was good lyrically, he rhymed well sure, but that doesn't really matter and wasn't what I was talking about. People thought the music was bad and that's all I meant. You said that Jay didn't prove himself after TBA and I was just correcting you.

Hmmm... I didn't really rate American Gangster personally.

Certainly not on par with the like of The Black Album and Reasonable Doubt.

But similar to what Relapse is to Em.

Call me a stan, but I feel that shows the gap between Eminem's best albums with Jay's then.
