well I know I'm in the minority on this site but I actually think if you stack Jay's best 4 (or 3, whatever) against Eminem's best 4/3, Jay would have the edge. Idk though, you said it wasn't on par with TBA or RD so me liking AG as much as RD shouldn't really matter lol

I don't think it is on par.

But I was meaning - I think there is less of a gap between Jay's best and AG for instance then there is with Em's best and Relapse.

I know you can turn around and say "that's because AG is much better than Relapse" and you certainly have a case.

By best, I see it as TBA, RD, BP vs SSLP, MMLP, TES. Then AG and BP3 vs Relapse and Recovery.

I think there are different angles you can argue. But personally Em's best easily ousts Jay's. But then there's a smaller gap between Jays (mainly due to Em's being a lot better).

Yeah I figured I'm more of an Eminem fan and you're more of a Jay fan.

Ignoring that, I just personally don't really rate AG compared to Jay's best albums.

Just looking at that, it's clear to me how much better Eminem's best is.

I haven't heard American Gangster I'm going to put that out there, so I'm going to replace is with Vol 2 because that's dope, and it's like

MMLP > TES > BP > SSLP > RD/BA > Recovery/Vol 2 > Relapse > BP3 (terrible album imo)

I can respect that, I think the production on BP is out of this world and is definitely a top 10 of all time. As you can see from the list it's my favorite Jay album.. I just prefer the rapping and content of TES. I definitely enjoy The Eminem Show a lot more than The Blueprint.

:y: Both are classics imo, but The Eminem Show is my favorite Eminem album and I'd say I only skip one song on it.

I don't mean to spark an argument, but I'm sure there's at least a couple albums out there that'd you only skip one song on. Surely those albums would be considered classic in your eyes as well? Or do you hold The Eminem Show in such a high regard because Eminem made it?

A bit reductionistic of you there Blu. I'm positive that's not the only category Trimss had for judging it as a classic.

Keep pulling the Stan card though.

It's because it has a crazy amount of flawless songs in it. You could make a top 10 Eminem tracks and there would be like 5 tracks from this album.

02. White America 5:24
04. Cleaning Out My Closet 4:57
07. Soldier 3:46
08. Say Goodbye Hollywood 5:03
10. Without Me 4:50
12. Sing For The Moment 5:39
13. Superman 5:50
18. 'Till I Collapse 4:57

Like, come on. These are the tracks I consider flawless. It's like half of the album is filled with fucking classic tracks, the rest are fucking great tracks. I mean, there's not one bad song on it. Some people say Drips is bad but it's honestly a great storytelling track, kind of a good break up song too.

He could release any of these songs today and they wouldn't sound old, they are timeless tracks (except for the pop star/bush references obviously.)

And I always skip tracks lol, there's always one or two tracks that I don't really want to listen to when I listen to an album. Not because it's bad, just because I don't feel it. Even on MGK's albums, Yelawolf's, Watch The Throne, MBDTF, etc.. TES and Graduation are the only albums I could play from start to scratch without getting bored or without wanting to go to the next song.

It's weird, I know. But I'm lke that.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like that. I just know, for example, that some people label Illmatic a "classic" because Nas made it.

You see where I'm getting it? I'm pretty sure Trimss has a ton of reasons why he considers The Eminem Show classic, but if there was another album (Illmatic for example) he considered only "great," but then had the same reasoning, we could all agree that he only holds Eminem's albums on such a high pedestal because Em made them.

Of course, I'm not saying this is the case. But I feel it is for others...

Do you consider those albums classic? Do you hold them on the same level as The Eminem Show?

Sorry Trimss, I didn't mean to drag you out like this or make it seem like I was calling you out. I should make a thread but I'm too much of a lazy bastard.

^ Eminem Show's quality, replay value and timeless feeling is what makes it a classic to me.

I don't consider any of MGK's or Yelawolf's album classics. Just because I love them doesn't mean I'm blinded by that and even if I hold them in very high regards, I know what's their place on the hip hop scene.

I would say Kanye has two classics, but wouldn't consider MBDTF as one of them. I would say Late Registration and Graduation (which has, once again, some of his best tracks)

That's about it. Now if there was a top 50 list of the best Rap albums ever, I'd say TES should be in the top 20 at least.

Also it's okay, you asked a question and I'm answering. 's all good.
