Jay made the song what it is today, without Jay, it would have been another song where Em talks about his critics, talking about how he's a drug addict, how people blame his music. Why would I care for that? There are only so many songs where he says the same exact thing. Jay addressed a couple issues concerning him on that song, he switched the flow, switched the topic and had a beautiful imagery.

Because there's nothing to say. Em and Jay both have great content but Em makes it 10x more lyrical and flows way smoother. He's more enjoyable to listen to and doesn't sacrifice anything he's saying for rhymes or flow.

Didn't Jay hear EMs verse first before he wrote his own verse? So that's like seeing ur opponents hand in poker first and losing the game....so Jay should have ethered Em automatically but he didn't.

I think Eminem's and Jay's verse would be equally good if Eminem's flow wasn't that great. But he has the edge because of that. Jay-Z's verses are fucking amazing though.
