even Jigga would agree, that he's not...

no. jay z thinks he is the best rapper alive. and sometimes dead depending on the mood he's in. and we he says alive - he is not refering to pac.

Thats coz ur a n00b, bluntly speaking. Im not saying u cant have ur opinion and u might have tupac to be more influencial. But u just called the undesputed legend with the labled "greatest album of all time" not to be competition to tupac. If tupac hadnt come to rap, it barely would have changed, while tupac was having his puberty Daddy kane, kool g rap, and young method man and GZA were cooking hot ass rap shit in they basements. Rakim created the New enhanced multi cilable flow (thats a fact, u can even read that in wikipedia), he alone made rappers change styles, simply coz he made the other rappers in 1986 look like fools wen his "know u got soul" single was playing, and rappers like Run dmc were still rhyming bat with cat.

First you gotta understand the music and its origins then you tell me that i HAVE to agree with you. Shame on you for not even knowing who Rakim is(but i guess u dont know coz he doesnt sell out like most of the rapers uve heard), the rapper ha been labled as GOD, by NAS, Kool G, Dre... etc. , but ofcourse wat do them rappers know right, 2 pac how ever wont recieve universal acceptance by other rappers.

Pac was influential, but no were near to the amount of boom and progress that RA had in the "golden age of rap" (1986-1993).

I aint starting no bullshit, this is a forum, forums are for discussions, finding arch-enemies. I aint saying u need to change ur top mc list either, coz its personal i cant change that for you neigher can any other rapper. Im stating facts merely, and discussing the topic. U said this

i might like him. but hes not the most influencial rapper. 2PAC IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know it u know it this whole dam room knows it!!!!!

wich is a rather biased and uninteresting point of view... especially wen ur saying u dont even know Rakim, so i responded.

back on topic: No one can really say that Pac brought rap to mainstream, simply coz its NWA who have statistically proven to have great influence throught suburban culture, by selling double platinumwith little promotion and airplay, and popularising gansta rap.

Each rapper played his own little role in Hip hop, and would be rather hard to place them on possitions especially by influence. Pac for example tried to spread the voice of the people and was a threat to goverment, and was eliminated for it, cause political inspiration in rappers, Eminem got the white coulture more into this, Rakim created styles and mastered the craft of this music... etc. i hope u see were im going with this.

Im not typing all that^ just to say that rakim is THE MOST influencial, im merely saying that none of us can determine that and should be a little less biased en discussing this.

EDIT: P.S sorry for being hostile, i aint had a hip hop debate on this site for a long time sometimes i just spit it out. >_>

Oh you motherfuckers, 50 is the most influental. Before him rappers were rappers. Nowadays, rappers are actors, clothiers, shoesellers, condom-testers, energy drink drinkers, businessmen, producers, carjackers, crime rate increase units and gangstas.
