Yeah well people are so impressionable.

Obviously when it's new to you, it's going to sound more fresh and exciting and people's opinions do naturally change over time; but it's almost like a news story, if you go back to the initial moment it happens, you can see more truth, then it gets politicized and tarnished, and twisted...

Because, I see so many people reacting naturally to just their love of a track and then a few people say X or Y about it and people conform, and reduce their own views to soundbite repeats of what the negative or presumed 'conscious / cool' say, to fit in on presumed consensus lmao.

But then that usually wears off after a while, just like with Relapse; when it first came, people LOVED it, I was all over hip-hop boards with people like "holy fucking shit, this is insane" and the most cynical of people on those boards calling it Em's Illmatic etc. lmao! and then a few people go "wtf, song about rape? this shit is wacky. And what's with the accents?" and then a domino effect of negativity happens and you get an unrealistically negative consensus... then that wears off and as you see now, people aren't so much just appreciating it later as they are coming out of that conformist haze and hearing the album for what it is again. And not what they think they should.
