Amadeo wrote:The whole "he's saving the good stuff for his solo album!!!" argument is bullshit. It's a Stannish rationalization of bad Eminem music. Yes, he may be saving certain subject matter and concepts for his solo album (it appears he's saving it all since he raps about absolutely nothing nowadays), but there's no way he deliberately tries less hard on a feature verse.
But this is not that, and the following lyric should explain why. After becoming a metaphorical cop in “Numb,” Eminem describes himself like this: “I’m the siren that you hear / I’m the butt police, and I’m looking at your rear, rear, rear.”
Eminem, one of the greatest rappers in the genre’s history, wrote that line. Rihanna can be as unapologetic as she feels she needs to be, and can support Brown all she wants. But when she starts dragging down Eminem, somebody needs to atone.
Unapologetic is more or less divided between an uptempo, surrender-to-the-beat first half and a more introspective, slower-paced second section. The David Guetta-produced opener Fresh Off the Runway, all robotic whomp and f-bomb shtick, quickly establishes a melody-free, pedestrian turf. Things become slightly more interesting with Numb, a decent duet with Eminem that takes a fatal turn with its wince-inducing, brain-dead words.
“I’m the butt police, and I’m looking at your rear rear rear/ But the odds are I’ma end up in the back of a squad car,” Eminem raps. Number of people sharing writing credits on the track: seven.
Underwhelming Cameos
Obviously, Brown's presence is the unavoidable turd in the album's punch bowl. But other VIPs don't do much to sweeten the mix. Guetta's garden-variety EDM makes you wonder why he's still a superstar DJ. Newcomers like Future (who croons on Loveeeeeee Song) and Mikky Ekko (who contributes to Stay) acquit themselves well, but don't add star power. Even the mighty Eminem comes off poorly; his typically demented rhyme is sandwiched incongruously into the last minute of the otherwise bland Numb. Which brings us to the album's chief failing:

C'mon Let Me Ride won't be a serious type of song. Don't know what to expect from My Life though, but since it's with another rapper I think he'll go in.

Yeah. It's 50's lead single from his upcoming album. I doubt Em will suck.
