On Fire: Best on Recovery

Postby SoldierShady » Nov 29th, '12, 16:46

Seriously doe. I went and listened to this song again after weeks and it's just brilliant. It stands out. The flow, the tone of it, the very Eminem-like production, no awkward punchlines and of course those buttery smooth multis. It doesn't sound like anything else on the album i.e the general Fire Marshall-esque sound that he's been coming out with since then. A small part of me fears that he's just going to carry on with that type of delivery onto his next album. Not that it's necessarily bad, but I'm obviously hoping for a new sound. Maybe if he just simplified it again and re-adopted that CWYWF/We as Americans sound with more focus on story telling and a theme? I'll be happy. It's whatever doe, I loved My Life and CLMR. Just saying. :y:
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

Almost Famous, Seduction, and Going Thru Changes are the best on Recovery IMO.

And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin

He has some dope lines on it and the beat is great.
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

I agree with this. He always flows far smoother on beats like On Fire. I know Em probably loves this song. I do too.

It's a bullshit hook in between two long ass verses.

That's one of the Recovery songs in the 'meh' category for me, personally. I like the beat, though.
