Attempting to give a definition to such a complex emotion serves only to constrain it. The fact there's a word to describe that type of feeling is good enough. There is no one true definition of happiness. Many scholars would agree that happiness is a life without pain and suffering, but bodybuilders and career soldiers would disagree. Others would define happiness as a fleeting comment where all cares and worries seem to vanish--naturally others would call this irresponsible. So what really is happiness? Its definition is different for each individual.

Block and Hage: That's why I made this thread! My ethic prof has been claiming that it's impossible all semester, and I certainly couldn't come up with an definition to prove him wrong. Wanted to see what other people tried to define it as.
