I just think it's political. Other rappers seem to acknowledge rappers more-so on how huge they are or what impact they have commercially over-time than just skill now...

Wayne is undeniably popular and huge and has been for a while now, so I think it's good for them and their careers in their head... or maybe they really think it. If so, I don't get it.
