Why doesnt medicine ball get any love? First verse is one of the best on the album and the C. reeves thing is so corny its great, haha. I laugh every time. Also people don't seem to like same song and dance. That sick storytelling is great. Second verse is really cool.

This is a really tough one, on one hand I have a lot more respect for Relapse then Recovery as a concept piece, its writing and production wise. However I must say I listen to Recovery a lot more, for me it has a lot of replay value. I can't say I know why I listen to it more but I can listen to the whole album without skipping any tracks, I can't say the same about relapse.

These are the only Relapse songs I love (must admit I have never really listened to refill properly, only 'My Darling' and 'Forever'. With a few listens at times to the others):

Deja Vu
Beautiful
My Mom (love it and think its underrated)
Hello
My Darling
Medicine Ball (why is it not on the tracklist in the OP?)

These songs I do like and listen to but not as much:

3 A.M
Insane
Bagpipes From Baghdad
We Made You
Old Times Sake
Must Be The Ganja
Underground

Also can someone explain to me what is so good about 'Stay Wide Awake', it gets mad love on here and I'm not that big of a fan, I don't have anything against it just don't see why its so special.

As for Recovery, Untitled s probably the only song I don't listen to that often, along with LTWYL because of how thrashed it was when it was a single. I really like the album but artistically I don't respect it as much, as I was saying before. I just think it's good music.

It should be more like Encore vs Relapse given how blatantly wack Recovery turned out to be.

Great relapse-era songs:
3 am
My mom
Insane
Bagpipes from bagdad
Hello
Same song and dance
We made you (funny lyrics with impressive wordbending but the sound of it is mehh)
Medicine ball
Stay wide awake
Old times sake
Must be the ganja
Deja vu
Underground
My darling
Hell breaks loose
Buffalo bill
Elevator
Taking my ball
Music box
Drop the bomb on em
I'm having a relapse
Chemical warfare
Oh no
Psycho
The warning
Things get worse

Great Recovery-era songs:
Cold wind blows
On fire
Won't back down
WTP
Going through changes
Seduction
So bad
Almost famous
Untitled
Ridaz
Session one
Forever (put it here cuz it was probebly the last song recorded for refill and it feels more Recovery-ish)
Drop the world
Airplanes pt 2
All she wrote
Despicable
Romans revenge

Relapse wins by far.

I can't believe what I am reading. Does anyone realize that Eminem made these albums based on the saying ''Relapse is part of Recovery?''.

The reason both of them are great is because of the contrast with each other.

The reason The Eminem Show is so great is because it shows the diversity of the person that made it... because before that he made The Marshall Mathers LP.

That is what is so mind blowing about Eminem. One of the things, anyways. You can't show someone one Eminem CD and expect them to fully understand why he is so great. You can't show them lose yourself, criminal, kim, stan, sing for the moment, my darling, stay wide awake... his old sick freestyles... ANY of it. Sure you can blow their minds, but not to the extent that Eminem deserves.

What makes the Eminem show INCREDIBLE is how it is a FANTASTIC album, and on top of that, the artist that made it is the same guy that made The Marshall Mathers LP, AND the Slim Shady LP that were each unique and each masterpieces and completely genius.

People disliking relapse before recovery came out is a perfect example of this.

He had to show that he could do both. Two CDs, the exact opposite (nearly, and from a lot of different standpoints, aside from both of them rocking) blowing anything else like either one of them out of the water... both by the same guy.

Recovery is amazing because it is a solid CD, and Eminem came up with it after coming up with everything ELSE he already came up with in his career. After saying what Eminem had said in his songs in the era in which relapse and refill had been released, what could most artists come up with that would be even close to Recovery? It's not about whether or not his latest CDs are as good as his first three... if anything it shows he has MORE talent even if they are not quite as good as the first three, because of how hard it would be to keep it fresh after slaughtering the whole genre that many years ago. You have to look at his whole career collectively to truly appreciate his genius. Each album makes me happier than the last and makes me respect Eminem more than the last because I consider that what I am listening to has been created by the man that created all of his older albums, after creating everything he has already created.

It is hard to verbalize my thoughts here, and find the words to explain what I mean here... but as major Eminem fans, I am SURE most of you must understand what I am trying to say.

@man in the mirror, co-sign on romans revenge. think it'll be better if we all just get a personal, opinion on songs before hopping on the internet. i actually thought 'my mom' was trash until some months ago when i gave it a proper listen.
@squiggles123, stay wide awake had brilliant storytelling, it takes a few listens to get into it though.

Well Stay Wide Awake has one of Em's best verses in it. Not only because of the storytelling but he rhymes every syllable in one line with 13 other lines, and that's pretty damn hard to do, plus the first two lines in that verse also rhymes with the rest, but not every syllable tho, but still, it's amazing.

Relapse.
It just feels like an eminem album to me, dunno why though.
And I kinda feel like Recovery is Eminem trying to get into the new style of rap. Not being him.

Relapse is easily better than Recovery which is way better than Relapse. I'd place Recovery over Relapse any day of the week, there's just no way Recovery can compete. Having said that, Relapse is definitely better but not quite as good as Recovery, which is a little worse.

Overall, I'd say Recovery is the better album, unless you're comparing them, in which case Relapse wins. Unless you include Recovery.
