I'm too skinny and I'm trying to gain weight and work out. Jamie if you have any advice to give me i wouldn't mind tbh. I'm starting this in two days

I try to eat more, nothing happen doe I'm still slim. Maybe I need to workout too.

Well try to eat 3000 kcal a day and working out for like a month, you should see some changes. A normal person eats like 1300/1400 kcal a day

>Get one of the workout plans from the stickies in the forums, stick to one of them for a few months.

>Get an app like myfitnesspal and use it to track your food. If you want to put on weight you have to eat an excess of calories (maintainence calories = amount of food needed for body to maintain weight. Eating an excess will cause you to gain weight, a defecit will cause you to lose weight).

>Cut down on how much cardio you do / eat more calories to counter it. Cardio burns calories therefore they cant be used to build muscle.

>Workout muscle groups twice a week (unless on the Max OT routine, leave about 3-4 days for rest after a workout).

>Make sure your calories dont all come from fat. You need an even distribution of protein, carbs and fat, bear in mind though that..:
1g fat = 8 cal
1g protein = 4 cal
1g carbs = 4 cal
You have to eat more carbs and protein to make sure the distribution is good. Foods like chicken, tuna, turkey, rice, fish, eggs, yoghurts, milk etc are all pretty good for this.

>When it comes to exersizes, make sure your form is right. Form > Weight.
If you do squats or deadlifts wrong your back will die. Make sure youre doing it correctly before you use heavy weights, and if you arent sure film yourself and compare it to other videos / post it on the forum for people to judge (be careful with that though)



>Do squats and deadlifts. Along with Bench press they are 3 very good exersizes, compound movements so they engage several muscle groups in one go and you can usually have higher resistance (more weight).

>Work out all your muscles, not just the ones you see in the mirror. Will lead to injuries if you dont.

>Be patient. It takes months to see a change, years to achieve what you want (unless youre very pessimistic).

>Join a bodybuilding forum and ask for advice when you need it. Seriously, just ask someone when you need advice on something, dont do something wrong for months on end that will stop you making gains.

>Be prepared to go on a bulk; you have to put on muscle and fat then cut the fat if you want to get bigger quickly/effectively. Eating in excess is key but chances are you will eat slightly more than you use and some will turn into fat. Better that than not enough excess ad putting on no weight though tbh.

I know there is more but whatever, cant think of them now.

I got 5250 calories in the other day, it felt so damn good though. On a bulk untill the end of April though so i need about 3400 calories a day for now, in about 2 months i will up it to about 3800/day

This time next year i will be eating about 4500 cal a day and my parents are likely to kick me out


Oh and dont do Max-OT as your first program, bad idea.

Man thanks a lot for this. Though I'll have to be careful with what I eat but it will probably be more chicken and fish.

Lol how much weight do you gain in one month. I read that 3 or 4 kg is maybe too much

1lb / week is possible, usually about 3lb / month is right

so 3kg would take about 2 months
Depends on how much of an excess you have though, and how much of it is muscle. I could put on 3-4kg of fat in a month easily enough.

My brother works in a gym, if you want to gain weight you should eat proteins like Revo said. Never ever pretend to gain weight with fat food, you will get fat not muscles. I guess you want to gain mass muscle. You can search in google for more advices.
