You could be on to something...that's what really held the song Kim back from striking a personal chord with me.

I personally think Eedee including the name makes it a better track. It stops it from being a generic "break-up" song and makes it more real.

Including the name definitely does not suddenly stop a song from being generic.

To each their own. Honestly, with this song, I don't think it affects it in a major way, with or without the name. My statement was in more of a general sense. Once I started studying songwriting in a more formal way, I found that there are a lot of small steps you can take to write better songs. Not rules, but guides. Again though, it was a small part of this particular song, so no big deal.

You're such a lovable bastard.

I added her name because the song was a personal one, and I felt like I needed that. If you can relate to the song, awesome! If not, hopefully you can still enjoy it for what it is: a personal song meant for catharsis and made in the hopes that someone out there can relate.

That's great man, I'm not questioning your reasoning for using her name in the song.

To be honest, my original comment wasn't even specifically directed towards this song. Relationship songs in general can be easier related to for some people without specific names. That's not to say every relationship song should be devoid of personal details.

Just to be clear--I'm not criticizing the song. I was commenting on what class said, and my comment beyond that was more of an observation about song writing in general.

No problem, I didn't really take it to heart. Just thought I should say something about it since people were arguing about it haha.

Anyway... hopefully you liked the song. :y:

It's a good song man, especially considering how far along you are in your writing process.

You're also very lucky to have someone like that on your hooks. It really allows you to craft songs that sound like your own, instead of just being a rapper over a beat. The next step would ideally be finding a producer and getting some originally produced instrumentals exclusively for your projects. Ultimate freedom.

Not that your stuff doesn't sound good now, and I understand that your still getting your chops up. When you're really ready to make *that* album though, be sure to find a producer, because you've got everything else you need, save for a little more experience.

I actually have my own personal producer who does custom beats for me and mixes my shit for free. Nice guy. We have a mixtape coming out later this year. Good thing is, he's actually good at his trade haha

Right now though I'm just practicing and shit with other beats and perfecting my craft. This is more than just a hobby; I love doing this and it's my passion. :y: So hopefully the hard work will pay off.

That's the best thing you can do, just keep practicing.

I can tell you this, from personal experience. Taking your time is one of the most important parts of making a great album. Practice, of course, as you have been is the best thing you can do. Don't jump into a full fledged custom album with everything riding on it until you're ready; by the sound of it, you've already got all of this figured out, and will provide a solid project.

Keep it up man.

Thanks for the good looks. The upcoming mixtapes (Ashes and Phoenix) hopefully won't get slept on and will get some good reviews. Then I'll actually start thinking about making a studio album that I can sell. But until then, gonna keep on my grind (as much as I hate that phrase) and keep bettering myself.
