Drum patterns don't even really matter anymore, I'm pretty sure all the generic ones have been taken. You can still make a great beat from a simple kick-kick-snare pattern.

^Eminem forum. For Eminem fans. And I'm an Eminem fan.

About the drum patterns: he made his best album using the simplest kick-kick-snare pattern. So yeah, I didn't say those beats aren't good. Jay-Z's Moment of Clarity is a good example. It's a crazy beat. Em's beats mostly focus on that background noise that is awesome. 'Til I Collapse is an example of that.

@JamaicanPattlez - Dre's beats aren't based on a kick-kick-snare drum pattern. Relapse? I'm not saying Dre is incredible, I don't adore his beats
