Not just poor music, but bad promotion. Dre went all out on promoting Kendrick: Facebook ads, album signings, tons of tweets, and tons of shows.

Yela got a questionnaire from Em and one lousy guest verse. Slaughterhouse got one lousy guest verse and three mediocre hooks/bridges. No album signings. No tweets. No shows. No long-term exposure. Nothing that said "this is the face of hip-hop".
