Well he's mentioning classic rappers a lot lately... and he never used to do much, he raps about hip-hop more now, like you would expect a hip-hop head rapper to do... I like it, because it's just cool to hear Em referencing classic stuff and showing how he's a fan of it first... maybe he's truly considering these next years his final ones now, like maybe one more album, so thinks now is the time to do it.

I have a feeling that's why he's saying yes to collaborations more too. He said no no no in the beginning to build up his credibility, he hand-picked everything, mentioned few and just created original work. Now he's kind of like a wiser head; he's just experimenting more and paying dues to his heroes.

- He mentioned Nas and Jay in the Cypher verse... not to mention Beastie Boys and Fat Boys.
- He mentioned Nas and Das EFX in the Art of Rap freestyle.
- He mentioned getting '5 Mics' (Source) in his "Our House" verse.

Seems to me like he's making a conscious effort to show he knows about and is hip-hop more now; maybe people calling him pop with Recovery erked him a bit, I like the fact he mentioned getting '5 Mics', maybe that's his focus now, maybe he wants hip-hop heads to consider his album a classic and cement that foundation. I fucking hope so. All good signs but, we'll see.

That's what I see happening, Like someone said earlier I see this track being "A Star Is Born" type song. Only with Em and 50 on it reminiscing.
