The only thing that I'm really disappointed with now is the lack of D12. Relapse II would have been cool, but Recovery was great so it's easier to kind of brush off R2.

When Em didn't wear the same khaki shorts, and grey/black hoodie, with a Koolo hat, and the hood over it :facepalm

Definitely should have finished what he started with Relapse.

Should have had videos for 3am, We Made You, Medicine Ball and Stay Wide Awake...

Then R2... the visuals would have taken it to another level entirely, he didn't have the balls to follow through on his convictions. After putting so much effort into creating something new too...

Trying to forget about R2 is like trying to forget about the death of a friend... you become numb to it, and you heal, but it still hurts, and it's always there.

Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Word...the only thing that kiiind of irks me about Recovery is that with Relapse and the expected R2, Em really felt like he was in his own little bubble - the amazing production, the razor sharp lyricism and flows, accents, ideas...I dunno, it was all so artistic.

I love(d) Recovery but I feel like Em took a side-step for a minute and dropped some things he even felt comfortable with. Although like I've said before, I feel like he's getting back on track.

I still think that by the time he released Refill he knew he was transitioning/being pressure by the label away from the Relapse sound and wanted to push out some of the R2 material so we could at least hear some of it.

I don't know, but 3 years of the same image gets tiring

Eminem should go back to his gangster clothes from 03-04. That would be dope at 40.

2009 was when Eminem was really in his comfort zone. I don't think he's felt like that since recent though. Recovery seems a bit forced, even if it was about overcoming his demons.

It seems backwards. You would think Eminem would drop Recovery in 2009 as you know recovering, and getting sober. Then Relapsing back into Slim Shady 2010. Like getting back into his comfort zone

I think Em is in more of a comfort zone now. He knows that Encore and Relapse weren't what they should've been and that Recovery was dope but should've been something else.

I really think this new album is going to blow us away. We know Em will ALWAYS amaze us lyrically but I think he finally understands what people want to here and I think the new album is going to be something else and out of this world

I agree.

I respectully disagree.

Artistically, he may have been in in a comfort zone, returning to lyrical rap and letting Dr. Dre do what he does best. In most other aspects of his life though, he was very uncomfortable from the looks of things. His stage presence was so stilted and unnatural, and his live interviews were a source of anxiety for him. His Jimmy Kimmel interview, for instance, where he tried to joke around but was so stiff with his delivery of his humor that it didn't connect like it would now.

This is to be expected though, from someone coming off of years of benzodiazepine dependence with all of the Valium he was eating. The instant effects of withdrawals were seen when he had a seizure after leaving the hospital early, but the longterm effects were a little harder to spot. Longterm benzo addicts have serious problems with extreme anxiety after years of abusing that class of drugs. Couple that with his natural insecurity, and it's amazing he was able to even do those public appearances and concerts at all the first year after he got sober. He was probably paralyzed with fear on the inside.

It really does give perspective to his actions and behavior during that first year or two after he kicked the benzos. I have some serious respect for him when examining that time of his career within that context.

Loved this interview. I do feel that, while I love Recovery, it feels like a "side step" as someone else said. I'm a bigger fan of Recovery than Relapse, but that could have brought him right back into is Slim Shady days if he cut the accents and really jumped into it.

This next album should be interesting.. he has done a lot of things in his career and I think it'll be back to the rough stuff now. At least I hope. You've overcome your demons and stuff, we get it.. that's awesome.. now go kill someone and make a hit out of it.

Also... the hoodies, kangol and g-shock watches are his best look. He can't be slapping on do-rags at fucking 40, come on. He'd look like a tool. :facepalm

That's right assholes, we have a female saying that the Kangol hat looks fine.

The problem all the men had with that hat at the time is that they're faggots in their obsession, but not in their fashion sense.

The hat is the best part of this new look! I'll flat out say it.. he looks fucking sexy in it. The watches and hats are awesome!

He can still do plain tee's, leather jackets and all of that.. but he should stick to the hats more often than not. and the watches.. I like seeing all the different ones he has :D
