I like D12 because they actually sound like they're having fun on songs and really enjoying it. Budden, Crooked I, and Royce all bore the hell out of me. Joell is cool though.

On a serious note, I'll have to say that D12's chemistry, versatility and concepts were mainly due to Eminem's genius.
He produced 7 tracks on it, and most of the times, had the best verse on the ones he featured. (arguably, Proof had the best verse on Revelation.) and made Devil's Night as dope as it is.

Now on D12 World, which was overall a weaker album, he produced a big amount of tracks too, but his rapping and the concepts were really.. Encore-esque.

As for right now.. I don't even really remember how The Return of the Dozen 2 sounds, I played it like twice and was bored of it. I'll check it again so I can give it a better opinion, but I know for sure I enjoy On The House more. (Right now, I'm comparing two RECENT mixtapes from both of them because I'm saying that SH now > D12 now)

Sure, SH is not a funny/shady-esque type of group but they never pretended to be one to begin with. They're not as funny as D12 members, but that's about it. I don't listen to rappers only because they're funny. Slaughterhouse members are more complete and can rap about anything. That's why their first album was so good.

And Crooked I sounds like a robot because that's how he wants to make his flow sound.
Kinda like Tech N9ne does it too sometimes.

D12 members are bland. When I listen to them now, it's like I'm listening to some random netcee rapping with no charisma or personality. They're not appealing, they sound like a lot of rappers.

I feel like they lost their "touch", listen to Fame and Hit Me With Your Best Shot.. You might aswell call it Eminem featuring Random Black Rappers. I don't even remember how their verse sound.

Slaughterhouse is like only a thousand times better than D12. There is no average rapper in the group. D12 had Bizarre, Mr Porter. And any SH rapper is better than swift or Kuniva. Nostalgia is why you think they are better.

I agree with you if we talk about pure skills or rhyme for rhyme but that's not actually how you judge on groups. Unlike when you judge one rapper's skills it's way different for groups.
For instance the 3 groups that are by far the top 3 groups of all time... Wu Tang, Public Enemy & N.W.A. have all kinds of different artists in them. Sometimes too many similar lyricists is even disadvantage in some way (in that matter SH too esp. cuz they are 4) 'cuz most of the songs that come with back to back rapping sound like cyphers. SH will never ever touch N.W.A. & they had only 2 extreme lyricists, one really good & authentic rapper but not lyricist, the greatest producer who's a clumsy rapper & a DJ who can't even rap. Actually this is the ultimate roster for a hip-hop group... you can't say SH is better than N.W.A. because Dre & Yela as a producer & DJ are average at rapping 'cuz they still fit right in & make the group perfect. Wu Tang have great lyricists but they do have a great producer & had a great character in the group too. Public Enemy doesn't even have one extreme lyricist but still hands down this is the definition of a great hip-hop group

It's the same with D12... having someone of EM's caliber in any group means that group really don't need more lyricists in it. Having Bizzy as such an crazy character & Mr. Porter as a producer is not a disadvantage, but even the opposite.
You're right if you judge on pure skills but that really is not all. Versatility is really important for hip-hop groups overall.
I DEFINITELY agree with you though that D12 without EM & Proof can't even compete with way weaker groups than SH if we talk about greatness. They were pretty original, interesting & dope in their original roster though (I mean original roster since they signed on Shady)
