Oh, it's abundantly clear you don't know what I'm talking about. I really doubt SEO or ROI mean anything to you.

And IDK, I guess my studies and work experience kind of help me think I'm not in that 99%. But hey, maybe when the senior recruiter at Ogilvy hired me, he was looking for someone clueless? Must be why they paid for my trip to the Cannes festival (google it) as a reward for my work, because it was obviously pretty shitty.

Amadeo wrote:\"Awful comparison"? What was I supposed to be comparing? And, once you point that out to me, explain how the comparison was awful.

Eminem made millions off his music because it was great, interesting and catchy. Musical artists don't create controversy if they're not interesting.

Yes it is an awful comparison. You pretty much said the value of education is nothing considering eminem has made so much money with little education.. IS that not what you meant by this remark?

So you spent "years at a university" learning all this advertising BS? Eminem spent 0 years, 0 days and 0 seconds being institutionally educated about advertising and has made millions off his products.

What does that say about the value of your education in advertising?

Oh reaaaaaally?! Marketing music is about appealing to a target audience? I had no idea. I wish I spent four years of my life going to lectures so I could learn stuff like this.

No one said I did. :smoking:

No, he needs artists who make great, interesting and catchy music, period. If the music of Slaughterhouse/Yelawolf was all of these things (which it isn't...it doesn't tick a single box), then the "advertising machine" doesn't need to do much.

No one denies he need great artists. That does not change the fact that they should be doing better numbers on a label such as Shady Records. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of worse artists than yela and slaughterhouse that are doing much better numbers. This could be because of the type of music they make, yes. Acting as if the marketing machine plays no role in this is ridiculous.

You have people posting music videos on Youtube with virtually no money spent on advertising and they're getting more attention than Yelawolf, who has a large company shitting out money for him.

Exactly, so obviously they are not doing their jobs properly

Ya they didn't work hard enough on 50 or market him properly :coffee:

Non-Eminem Included Successes: 50 Cent, Obie Trice

Failures: Ca$his, Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf, Bobby Creekwater, Stat Quo

Did not release a project under Shady.

2/7 isn't a great track record.

I don't think anyone would feel comfortable saying, "Yeah man, last week I was bumping Bobby Creekwater, his album is tight as fuck, yo!"

Same goes for Ca$his imo. I listen to him sometimes, but I don't think I could brag about it.

I agree that track record is pretty bad if your talking about sales but that wont affect myself for listening or buying there music. I don't really like Stat, Bobby or Cashis.

Lets face it those artists music dont appeal to the average music fan.

Neither does Yelawolfs or Slaughterhouse. The problem was they tried to appeal to the average listener, so a lot of the hardcore fans didn't like it, and a lot of the average fans didn't even know it existed because they weren't marketed.

It was the perfect storm for Flopperhouse.

But that's not fair of me. I'm sure you've learned some skills in your four years that nobody else can learn without a formal education. So what are they? I'm curious. What makes your education worth its cost?

The sense of superiority it's given her?

Nah, I'm just kidding. I think you probably can learn some technicalities of marketing and shit on a course but it's hardly rocket science is it. There will be loads of people who made their business and product thrive without any formal education.
