Redback (similar in looks to your Black Widow) fall out of my shoe yesterday before I mowed the lawn. So I killed it and wore different shoes lol
Ah, yeah, I see that they are of the same Genus. That would sort of be like the Australian Black Widow then. A Black Widow bite usually results in a visit to the hospital here, since that's the only place they're going to give you the antivenom. The whole prospect of a bite that causes widespread muscle pain and inhibits breathing sort of makes me nervous.
I don't like spiders anyway, but I had never seen a Black Widow before in real life. I knew they were more common in the Southwest, but the worst I had ever really worried about where I live is the Brown Recluse. Not so much because of the deadly nature of their venom, but because the bite leads to an infection that can rot your skin. Nasty fuckers.
Anyway, I see this (dead) black spider in one of the rooms of my house. Being that this place is old as sin, I had gotten used to seeing brown spiders by now. This had been the first spider I had seen in a bit, but it was also the first black one I had seen here. So, I moved it, and saw the red hourglass on the underside...and then felt incredibly uncomfortable and left the room.
Probably going to have to just burn the place down.
