Yelawolf XXL interview

Interesting read!

Yelawolf wrote:I'll tell you straight up, I personally hate Radioactive. The album almost ruined everything for me. The people, like some fuckin' shit was going down behind the scenes that almost ruined shit. The music is cool, but some of the music I really was against putting on the album, but I was sold on it. But some shit was going down during that album that almost took me out the game man. But, fuck that. Radioactive was yesterday, man. I'm like Jay-Z, man, "You like my old shit? Then buy my old album." I'm on to the next man, for real.

This time, it is you and Em?
It will be WillPower and I producing the album. Yeah, I'll go to Detroit and sit with Marshall and will finish it and that will be it.

Woohoo, keeping Eminem the fuck away from the album :worship:

Lol what do you mean?

Im really interested what he means with the part I quoted. What could "almost take him out of the game"? Did he speak his mind to loud and Jimmy Lovine said: "well leave then, bitch"?

I blame Interscope & Marshall for fucking up Radioactive

The less of them both, the better. People want a Yelawolf album, not the bullshit Marshall helped make on Radioactive

Yepp this.

I guess he put some hihats here and there, *layed his questionable verse over a wack pianobeat, and did a chorusthingy for a song that didnt even end up on the final product.

Pretty sure most of Radioactive was made before Em came into the picture.

I think so too, even with the SH album, he told them to do their thing, and when they gave it to him, he tried to clean up their mess as much as possible, I think.

Yelawolf states fairly plainly that it was all of the label influence that pulled that album apart. That's why he says that now there won't be any non artists allowed in the studio. He and WillPower will crank this one out, take it to Detroit for any features or aditional input, and then get it approved by Eminem...and probably fight with Interscope about whether or not it's acceptable for release.

This was a great interview for it being so short. He didn't bite his tongue at all.

.. That's the whole point. He made an radio friendly album, and even compromised on some tracks. He made some tracks he didn't want to make, to appeal to people. Because they told him to do that..

But they didn't back him up. So of course he's mad, because he did all of that and risked to lose some fans with that shit. So yeah, of course he's mad.

This interview is great as fuck and I'm proud of Yela. Love Story and TMR will be great af.

Right?

Really, this makes even more sense of his frustration. Before, we only knew for sure that he tried to make a radio friendly album, and Interscope dropped the ball. Of course, we speculated, but Yelawolf wasn't very specific about how he came to the decision to do so. Now, we know that they were there, actively participating in the process of creation. Then, they abandoned the album that they asked for, and left him with a disappointed fanbase.

He was no doubt angry with himself, but his anger at Interscope was undeniably justified.

Nah Em was one of the ones who helped convinced him to do "Good Girl", that shows he was an active player in pushing compromises.

Radioactive was all over the place because fucking everybody that was involved with it. Other than that, my albums are pretty consistent, vibe-wise.

Music to my fucking ears. Yelawolf has done one of the greatest reverts to purity I've seen, and he's saying things that I've never heard other rappers say about consistency and concepts and production, that I always thought and always wished an artist would think too.
