In a nutshell, it's the emotion lol. He was rather passionate.

But it was also the music itself. I mean let's face it, at his best the dude was rather articulate (he was no Nas but he was better than everyone else he was rapping with). And the guy was rapping on some killer production. It just all sort of synchs, ya know?

honestly, i think i'd put tupac over biggie. i know tupac isn't a wordsmith, but his delivery is earth-shattering. his voice is so assertive masculine aggressive and powerful while still keeping its grace and refinement. i think he had the best voice of any rapper dead or alive honestly.

2Pac was like MJ, you really feel that he means what he is saying in each song, and people always say he didnt have flow or lyrics but that is certainly not the case, they probably havent heard the songs where he displays these characteristics. his music was soulful, and i havent heard rap like that in a very long time, thats why he will live forever through the music. listen to Me against the world, and the makaveli album if you want to hear lyrical flowing 2pac. biggie on the other hand is the reason why rappers today talk about money bitches and cars, a lot of cats today took from him and i need to say no further on him. imo people would not be talking about BIG today if it wasnt for 2pac.

They were also both VERY good for their time. I think if the exact same rappers came out today then they wouldn't be rated as highly. They stood out and that's why they were so fucking popular at the time. That's why people still recognize them and their music even though it's been years since either has breathed a breath.

Anything that came out after Makaveli from Pac was average or below average because that isn't how Tupac wanted the material to be released.

I agree with this, it's a pity that most of this generation see his posthumous albums which aren't true representations of who Tupac was.

Pac is no way overrated and either is Big that sounds just as inaccurate as saying Eminem sold out or sucks now or Kanye is a terrible artist. I never once heard a reviewer or critic say this, they are both on almost every single known rappers top 5 we know. Especially Tupac his music will live forever and he is a Legend... He died in 1996 and it is 2013 now 17 years later both Pac and Big are still being mentioned everywhere, people around the World still talking about them and bumping there music like it just came out today. It is alright for people not to like there style but the dudes earned there status and respect. Not to mention they both died extremely young and never got to grow as artists to there full potential.

Anyone who dies at their peak is going to have an inflated fan base / following / recognition because of the potential that can't be lived out. So people listen to the music wondering what could've been.

This site still doesn't think that Jay is the biggest Biggie biter of all time I made a topic once and they all ignored it...A few people said Jay is paying Homage on here...I laughed my ass so badly it is so clear..Ill even say this again Jay was not as big as people think he was in the 90's, no one cared about Jay until the 2000s due to the fact that hip hop was taking a bad turn and old Jay from the 90s was dope compared to the watered down crap today

BIG n PAC is and always will be Rap/Hip Hop as well as Legends not because they were Popular or people liked them, it is because of there Classic Music.

He always was a great lyricist until his recent work after the black album IMO obviously like you said though,
