I used to think Eminem made the music he wanted to make. Either that isn't true or the music he genuinely wants to make has changed drastically. But then again, it always changed from album to album. Personally I am glad there was no R2.

That has never been true he admitted always Interscope said unless you make singles like THe Real Slim Shady, Without Me, Just Lose It. We won't release ya album he never wanted to make them type of singles after My Name Is.

Yeah but they just wanted hits... and so Em used that formula to re-create the success of "My Name Is" again and again. He analyzed it like a businessman would, and repeated it...

But, the production, the content and style was all Eminem... nothing about the music was actually compromised; it was all him, it was just the fact he amped it up, condensed it and made it catchier.

But Recovery was the first time he TRULY questioned his point of view. And changed.

Listening to Recovery i never thought of it as compromised would have prefered him producing it but the records on there any song before is a type of song he done before. And it was themed on his drug addiction so me personally i never thought it sounded like a compromise. Even working with Rihanna she is an RnB artist and Hip Hop and RnB closley related you kno.

His themes or approach wasn't too compromised...

But the music was...

He intentionally reached-out to 'hot producers' that were big at the time to try and create a variation on the sound in the moment... he'd never done that before. He'd always defined the moment.

Also, clearly very Carter 3 and BP3 (especially, even down to the aesthetics) influence... there's an abundance of Wayne-esque punchlines and trying to appeal to the current generation, almost like out of some desperation or fear or irrelevance... "Shady's got the mass-appeal!!"
