I think this that's why I have so much respect for the album (the actual music, lyrics, blah blah blah aside).

I didn't like the new raspy voice for the most part, but the fact that it was actually consistent (and did in fact work well for some songs) shows that it was a display of versatility and not laziness.

That being said, Ronald Reagan Era is the best song Kendrick's ever made soooo...

Na, the art of the peer pressure, money trees and sing about me >>>> :shifty:

that's what is cool with kendrick, nobody is going to have the same favorite song... money trees, the art of the peer pressure, black boy fly, hiii power, ronald reagan, fuck your ethnicity, the heart part 2, cartoon & cereals,... :flutter:

That wasn't an invitation to turn this into a circle jerk over Kendrick and our favorite songs by him. :shakehead:

Lol I disagree though. That's not something exclusive to Kendrick. Any type of music is divided amongst certain demo-graphs for the most part. Though I guess the bigger the fan base, the more apparent the differences will be. :-k

that's true, I have the feeling that gkmc was made for another audience.

imo:
OD & Section80: "albums" about Compton, For Compton
gkmc: album about Compton, for the World

Sounds reasonable. Regardless of the intended audience though, I liked them all. Bad songs aside, I can play each one from start to finish.

I just wished Kendrick signed to Shady as well as Aftermath like 50 did. I know his album has reached gold already. But on Shady he would have sold more. He is just an all round great rapper

his album is going to be platinum this year (best selling hip hop album of 2012 so far) and he doesn't need to sign to Shady.
No offense to shady records but imo, TDE is the perfect label for kendrick... kendrick really has the right persons behind him because he has the full creativity control over his albums.

Eminem is a fantastic artist but Em & Kendrick don't have the same approach of hip hop and as a label boss, Dr Dre > Eminem IMO
Look at 50 cent, he wasn't really the mastermind behind his first albums. On the other hand, kendrick is the mastermind behind gkmc, Dr Dre didn't even touch his album, he only mixed a few tracks.

TDE/Aftermath/Interscope = Perfect for Kendrick

LISTEN TO IT AGAIN.

Section 80 starts off so much stronger than GKMC, I like the production more and the song concepts.

However they're both fantastic albums, I don't skip any songs on either. Hell Kendrick even made me like a Drake feature. Gives me hope that Em really knows what he's doing and that even if he features an artist I don't like I might like the song. That was the case with No Love.

I also think that section 80 was good/very good and that gkmc was better by far imo but S80 is impressive because it was a low budget indie album, I might be wrong but s80 is to Kendrick what Infinite is to Eminem...
but I think that bigray has different tastes than you and me, he enjoys bangers a lot and kendrick is really different, Section.80 has that classic jazz atmosphere while GKMC captures the sound of generation with its modern rap/"blues" blend.

For example, I'm pretty sure that bigray doesn't like bitch don't kill my vibe, money trees and sing about me which are arguably the fans' most favorite songs from gkmc...

ahah bigray, I didn't understand the hype for Money Trees either, people talked about that song as an anthem, I really didn't get the hype but for some reasons, the hook stuck in my head and it's now my favorite song of last year with :worship:

btw Eminembase, make you sure you have deluxe version of gkmc, the bonus songs are really great: The Recipe, Black Boy Fly, Now Or Never
