Who do you think is the future of hip hop beside

Postby fifflaren » Jun 6th, '13, 20:32

Who do you think is the future of hip hop beside Kendrick and big krit ? Eminem, Lupe Fiasco and nas are still alive but you gotta admit that there are a few potential new goats every 4-5 years.

Agree or disagree, artists like Kendrick or Big K.R.I.T. already established themselves as some of the best rappers of the last 5 years, they represent a new future of hip hop in general.
At the end of the day if you want to be remember in music history, you're gonna be judged by the retail body of work you leave behind, gkmc and some of Big Krit's mixtapes are already being considered as modern day classic albums/mixtapes by a lot of people so it's fair to assume that these 2 guys are here to stay.

Unlike Kendrick, krit couldn't change the radio for him but there is no denying that both of them made everybody step up their game in terms of album quality.

So I'm going to ask you, Who do you think is the future of hip hop beside them ?
Let's stop talking about Kdot and krit because they are probably here to stay, let's talk about the other mcees because it looks like other rappers might join them in the big leagues.

J. Cole ? he can write a good song, whether it's one long verse or a melodic hook, he always delivers but he disappointed a lot of people with his last album. Do you think Born Sinner will be his chance to be considered as another leader of the new school ?

Drake ? he is popular but can he make peole step their game up ? he owns the radio but hip hop fans fuck with other newcomers more than him.

Yelawolf ? I've seen a lot of people talking about TMR as a classic mixtape, from what I have heard, from his interviews, passion and skills, to me it seems like he's going to establish himself as another potental goat if he doesn't disappoint with his sophomore.

Action Bronson ? haven't even heard his mixtapes or songs yet but I've seen a lot of people talking about him

Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul ?

Hopsin ?

Yelawolf, I also think Strange Music is going to blow up with Tech and Rittz.

Schoolboy Q's album has the potential to be a classic and make him a big name.

Honestly I don't think anybody has the potential to be the GOAT

the goat doesn't exist, a lot of people talk about Nas, Andre, Eminem, jay or even Lil Wayne, and I've seen a lot of people putting young artists like Big krit, lupe and kendrick on the top of their lists, old hip hop heads still fuck with Tupac and biggie.. at the end of the day, it's all about your opinion and every generation has its own icons

Lupe will make his come back, believe me.

Yelawolf is my number one choice.

But someone else who gets overlooked. He had a great debut album, but then hasn't done much since except do features. The thing is, in the features he has been the best verse mostly every time. He has improved quite a bit, and he has the delivery and charisma to back it up.

People sleeping on Jay Rock. But he needs to drop something. I don't think he's GOAT material but he'll be nasty.

I dunno, that's a good question. There's no doubting that Kendrick falls in that group, but as for the rest, I'm not sure. I agree with you on J.Cole...one moment he drops a classic, next is an rnb song. I think Born Sinner is his make or break. Most rap legends dropped a classic their first album, but that wasn't the case with J.Cole so let's hope that his next album proves us wrong. At least we know he can't have a sophomore slump.

Btw, to the people saying Yelawolf...No. He will be nothing more than he is now, he's no way going mainstream and becoming the future. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Jay Rock is a killer :worship:

but for some reasons, I can't see him being able to release a complete album like the other cats from TDE, he is not as versatile as the others IMO but if you want to work with him, you better give your best :coffee:

btw, you fucking clowns, you blamed me & Omega for all the Kendrick and krit posts back in the days but it looks like you talk about them every day Image

Sorry to burst trshady's bubble but drake is such a certified icon already he has been leading the whole new school. Kendrick, Asap, 2 chainz (wack, but still).

Take care was a great album. Generally polarized reviews with blind hate and blind praise but thats true for even "greats". Notch that on his belt.

If we were to consider after the southern takeover of Luda, T.I and Jeezy i'd put

Drake- 2010
Kendrick Lamar 2012.

With the legends comeback this year as well as the aversion to signing major labels i honestly dont see a certified superstar on the horizon. It will probably be a scattering of indie great artist as was the case with Rock until recently.
Songs of the year

Drake is definitely one of the most popular artists right now but ask a hip hop fan who is better between Drake, Kendrick, J Cole or Big Krit and most of them will say that drake can't fuck with them.

Drake is the definiton of being popular while Kendrick and cole are the definition of being popular and respected.
