He is definitely a great rapper but he is playing the safe card, he is definitely better than he was 2 years ago but imo, most of his songs sound the same.

He is great but he needs to release something different :y:

Cole is stil yet to even find an identity. We know Lupe Fiasco's lane, We know Kendricks lane, we know Drakes lane, we know Yelawolf and Big Krit lanes, what exactly is Coles? It's like he has to tell us "I'm not your usual rapper, i went to college, I listen to real hip hop etc". I have his music and listen to it, he's kinda one of those artists that when you first start getting into a genre of music heavy, you lean towards a certain style that is perceived to the most organic etc. so people latch onto the real hip hop argument as their basis for Cole being so good, and much of that comes from J.Cole himself anointing himself as some sort of underdog, and lets face it, people love rooting for the underdog.

If Drake didn't say the plethora of arrogant things that he does (which makes him who he is as an artist) he wouldn't catch anywhere near the hate he does, cause IMO it's not even close between Drake and Cole, and I'm talking skillset wise.

I'm not hating on Cole, I think he has alot going for him but tbh he is missing that x factor hat Drake, Kendrick,Yelawolf and Big Krit have.
I can understand his hype, he is definitely talented but he hasn't released his sophomore yet.

Listen to Niggas know or to his new single, it sounds like The College Dropout from Kanye, that guy wants to become Yeezy so bad lol.. Nobody wants to hear a new Kanye West because we already have Kanye.

Black Hippy cats are gonna fucking bring the West coast back... they're gonna reign supreme for a decade at least in my opinion. That movement is getting outta hand already.

A lot of the older cats have a lot more to offer too though... & a lotta young new comers with big potential as well.

I'm now a huge fan of Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick and Krit but I used to be one of their biggest haters a few months ago. their music grew on me I guess because The Cool, gkmc, s80 and Kind Remembered in Time have been in constant rotation. I thought they were overrated, not anymore.. they are actually very different and it took me a while to understand their approach.

I made a post about not feeling Big Krit and Kendrick Lamar's music a while back and within an hour my post was FLOODED with pro-Big Krit & Kendrick Lamar posts.
Their buzz is huge , they are literally killing a lot of rapper careers, TI, Game or Lil Wayne are still doing the same music as they did 2 years ago but less and less people talk about them.

A lot of artists won't blow up because they are literally bad copies of Kendrick, Krit or Drake and that's Why I can see Yelawolf becoming a big artist, I've already seen a lot of people talking about TMR as a classic mixtape and from what I have heard, from his interviews, passion and skills, to me it seems like he's an original and creative artist, he isn't the next Eminem, he isn't the next kanye West, Lupe, Nas or Kendrick and Krit, he has his own lane.

With the right promotion, Yelawolf can go far.

Kendrick and Macklemore brought the west coast back tbh. The black Hippy cats are all dope as fuck but I feel like they will always be in Kendrick's shadow because he is the one who kicked the doors and brought them to the podium

Most likely the rest of Black Hippy cats won't have the success of K.Dot but even if they come close to it would be huge... plus they only need to contribute to make that movement extraordinary anyway. I expect Q to hit hard actually... Ab & Jay Rock most likely won't hit that hard but they only need to come with solid albums before the group one.

Macklemore hit fucking hard man... this is more than almost everybody else has ever done 'cuz them dudes reached those highs all on themselves... plus he's not even from Cali. It was crazy a rapper from Seattle did that. :worship: No rapper from there could step up after Sir Mix-a-lot to be honest & that was way back in the day.

I don't expect Yela to be the future of hip-hop commercially to be honest but I'd love him to stay consistent & most of it to drop a couple of classics at least!

I don't think the future has arrived yet, they're still to be discovered. But I can tell you one thing for sure-they will blow up, and they will be independent (no major record label), and take their career to places nobody has seen yet.

Sure Kendrick or k.r.i.t are buzzing, But I'm sure they'll turn out to be someone like modern Canibus, Snoop, or DMX- irrelevant eventually, but classic nonetheless. Hip hop needs its savior.

Macklemore is a bit of a curious case for me. He has achieved wide spread commercial success because of Thrift shop (and a smart strategy of follow up singles) but he seems to only hold the interest of a certain hip-hop demographic. That is, college age youths with relatively large pockets. Although thats not different from a Crooked I (middle aged inner city males) it does dont have the transcendant feel of Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Krit. Those new cats are appealing across the hip hop demographic getting respect and success.

He's a one hit wonder queerbait for radio listening goofs. Not only does he look retarded, but his music sucks the reversed asshole of a decomposing raccoon.

He's actually pretty nice & a lot more than what you said he is... not nowhere near my favorite type of a rapper but way more than good enough overall. Like I've said before he deserves a lot more props than he gets esp. 'cuz he never had any kinda machine behind him but still did that much.

I use the be sure that Hopsin was going to be a big one. but since the guy is already 28 and he isn't bringing his album soon, my hopes have disappear..
I'll judge after the album tho but seeing he probably lost data ( >>> https://www.facebook.com/hellohopsin/po ... 2766374854 ) I doubt his album will come < 2014 medio

Kendrick Lamar, loved section 80, expected better from GKMC, maybe just not my type of style.
J. Cole, I know he can do much better, will judge after born sinner ( a bit too monotone for me, the same I got with Lupe and Nas)
Drake, he's a good artist, don't bump his song, just a couple if I'm in that type of "mood"
Big Krit, he is a very good rapper, but don't know he is just not the future of hip hop, I think he will stay on the background..

^ I agree with viJilance, Hip Hop savior needs yet to arise..
