To be honest, I liked Hopsin when I first heard of him (here). But, I rarely bump his music now. I feel he is not living up to his potential.

Oh and by the way, he saved the Knock Madness files. And if he does release Knock Madness that day with the Ill Minds as bonus tracks remastered and mixed like he said he would, it will be dope.

Oh, so it turns out that his computer "crashed" again, and yet again, he finds a way to salvage the files...

I'm just being cynical, I'd like to hear Knock Madness.

I kind of lost interest in Hop with time a bit... I am not saying turned bad or whatever but I feel like he stalled at some point. I really hope he comes with something outstanding next time around.

This is true, but along with what Menzo said, Eminem has already established himself in the genre. While Hopsin shows a lot of promise, and has done well enough building Funk Volume, he's only had one album that broke through in a way that made people start paying attention. People were already starting to wonder what he was doing last year when IMOH5 came out, and it bought him some time. However, his delays may lead to people wondering if Raw was a fluke, and lose interest.

Eminem has only really been without a release since 2011. Hell: The Sequel, while not a solo album, marked his third release in the 3 years following his comeback. Hopsin hasn't earned the confidence that people have in established artists, with full discographies yet. It'll take more than another "Ill Mind of Hopsin" track to keep himself relevant. He needs to release Knock Madness sooner, rather than later if it is to have any impact at all.

My hope is that the delays are related to him expanding his scope, and creating better music, as opposed to a lack of confidence.

I don't know man. Raw was really big in the underground and he's now the most popular underground rapper. This album could make him break into a semi-mainstream kind of hype, like Tech N9ne. This is only his second (third if we count GATM) album and he's already kinda big in the underground.

If Ill Mind 6 can get a similar amount of attention as 5 did, dropping his first single for Knock Madness late September/early October would be perfect.

And if he doesn't release it this fall then if Ill Mind 7 can get a similar amount of attention as 5 and 6 did, dropping his first single for Knock Madness late September/early October would be perfect as well. :y:

Actually the smartest thing would be releasing Ill Mind 6 and Knock Madness the same day.

Nah, it would be smarter if he released Ill Mind 6 with a big ass provocative theme and said in the end of the song "Now go and buy Knock Madness"

It would give him a buzz, people who like the song will buy it because they're caught in the moment and people who liked Ill Mind 5 will say "hey I remember this dude he's real hip hop and the next tupac!!!!1" and buy it too.

Amadeo wrote:"Relevance" or "staying relevant" doesn't matter.

People act like fans are going to unsubscribe from his Facebook fan page if he doesn't release a song after a certain time. No, people just go about their lives and check out his music when it comes.

If his next album is good, the length of time it took to create doesn't matter. Someone's "buzz" doesn't go down due to inactivity, it goes down due to poor quality.

This. When his album drops and it's good he will get the same amount of buzz as ill mind did..
