I see your point, it does look like his head in some games depending on graphics. The game mechanic in that mario land game lets you use your head

But at least in the newer installments where you can see better, its his fist.
All the nintendo stans on wikis and gamespot, confirm its his fist.

Yeah, I don't think he was arguing with that, even though it seems like he might've been.

Just that in the earlier games--due to graphics--he does hit it with his head.

I have not played the newer models of Mario so I wouldn't know. I knew the originals did though, like how that video crash posted illustrates.
